I don't think a jump from JUCO or even D2 is out of the question in baseball. Good coaches at those levels have lots of kids drafted over time. If they are winning consistently it reflects their ability to recruit talent and have that talent develop and build team unity.
Mack hasn't seemed to give much priority to local, state or regional ties. He seems to look for upcoming talent, relatively young for the position, with some kind of significant early success.
For those reasons I wouldn't expect Mitch to get a lot of consideration. Mack likes to find his own in his own way.

Would love to see Mitch get the job. I thought he should have got the job his first go around. He did amazing things at MCC and the players love playing for him.
