I wonder if Wade is ok? That's 2 times ina row now.
He also threw 95 pitches in 3 and 2/3rds 3 games ago.

Something is definitely not right. I do wonder if he is tipping his pitches because with our division lead there is no reason to hide an injury right now.
at this point it might be better to shut him down for a couple of weeks and go with Uriquidy or Framber

Astros at one point had 7 hits to Oakland's 1. but only led 2 to 1

Top of 6th, nobody out, it's now 4-2 Oakland with a man on second for the A's.

Someone find out where our home mojo went, please.

Finally going to the bottom of the 6th, Astros now down 5-2 after giving up 4 runs in the top half.

Hope our bats wake up real quick.

Bottom of the 9th, Houston down 5-3, Reddick up to bat ...

Reddick gets to 3-1 on the count, but then flies out. Tucker up as a pinch hitter, nobody on, 1 out.

Tucker strikes out, 2 down, up to Toro to give Houston a chance.

Toro takes it to 9 pitches but strikes out to end the game.

Astros get more hits but fool around with opportunities, have lost back-to-back to Oakland and fall behind the Yankees for the AL best record.

What does the rotation and the pen look like for the playoffs if neither are involved?

Cole
Verlander
Grienke
Peacock?

Framber
McHugh
Harris
Osuna
Pressly?

Seems like they will have enough arms in the pen, but that 4th starter spot could get tricky. Will be interesting to see how that develops.

Yes. Glad I don't have to figure that out.

Pressly could do the opener thing

Astros in a funk. down 3-0 before they got a run back to make it 3-1

But they are messing up opportunities just like last night.

Bottom of the 6th, still down 3-1 but the first 2 Astros (Altuve and Brantley) walk. Tying run on with nobody out, Alex Bregman at bat.

Then Alex strikes out.

Argh

1 out, men on 1st and 2nd, Yordan now up to make the fans happy. I hope.

Now Yordan strikes out after Altuve got caught stealing.

We're killing ourselves.

Altuve homers to bring Houston within 1, 1 out bottom of the 8th

Astros load the bases with 2 out, but Tucker strikes out to end the 8th, Houston still down 3-2

Missed opportunities again, and I hate the trend:

15 runs in game 1, 7 in game 2, 3 in game 3, only 2 so far tonight ...

Gotta hope the team finds its bats in the bottom of the 9th. Bottom of the order coming up though, Springer coming up 3rd in the inning. But first we have to hold the line and keep the distance at 1 run.

Osuna gets them 1-2-3 in the top of the 9th, time for the Astros to go to work.

Robinson Chirinos leads off the bottom of the 9th, takes 2 balls then swings and misses, takes ball 3 to go 3-1, then walks.

Lead-off walk, man on 1st, tying run on base, no outs.

Yuli up now to pinch hit.

Yuli singles on the 1st pitch, Robinson to 2nd

Men on 1st and 2nd, no out, tying run in scoring position, winning run on base, up comes George Springer.

George takes a ball, called strike, then a ball to make it 2-1.

Swings and misses, now 2-2.

Then strikes out. George goes 0 for the night.

( sigh)

Jose Altuve comes to bat, 1 out, men on 1st and 2nd.

Jose starts out with a swinging strike, follows with a ball (1-1), then swings and misses again at a 98 mph fastball (1-2).

Then he flies out. Pinch runner Straw goes to 3rd, but now there are 2 out, men on the corners, 3-2 Oakland.

Michael Brantley up with the game on his shoulders now.

Michael fouls off the first pitch (0-1).

Then fouls off the 3rd to stay alive.

Brantley strikes out to end the game.

Mission 1 accomplished, Houston wins today 4-1

Magic number to win the division is 7

Now game and a half behind the Yankees, who are tied at 5 in Toronto with the Jays.

Houston has Rangers, Angels, @Mariners, @Angels

New York has Angels, Jays, @Rays, @Rangers

Dodgers are 1.5 games back and have 12 left to play counting their game tonight against the Mets

Astros hold the important tie breaker with the Yankees so even though we are tied with them we are basically a game up.
