Can't win if you don't score more than 1-2 runs.
A reporter once asked Cardinals pitcher John Tudor if he was upset that his team didn't give him run support when the next game Jose DeLeon would win 7-5. Tudor said if the hitters give him one run, then it is his job to win 1-0.

I get that you are in the American League now where runs are plentiful, but enjoy your good pitching and defense. A win is a win. And who hopes to lose on big so as to win the next one. SMH

You knew it wasn't going to be our night when Sabathia was getting the Eric Greg with Madduxx on the mound strike zone and they get a swinging bunt, a bloop off the end of the bat and a throw my bat at a pitch down and away out of the strike zone and it's a three run homer....

It may be beyond my understanding of baseball at the Major League level, but I watched us take sever strikes, some right down the chute. I don't know why they let those go. Yuli is the exception it seems, if the first pitch is a strike, he's swinging.

We have scored 5 runs in 3 games. Bats need to wake the **** up.

Get some driver covers and a whole chicken.
I'd rather lose big tonight and have the 'Stros motivated to win tomorrow.

I agree. But the bats are starting to make me nervous. I'd rather go back to wondering about the middle relief. I just assumed we would score some runs.
We loaded the bases twice and got one run for it ... off a walk. Come on, you know the bats will come around, and today would be a great time for it.

And don't freak too much about the Yanks getting 8 runs. All of them were scored with 2 outs meaning that a little bit better and we're in a tight game in game 3. Just had to shake off the nerves of a prime time playoff game. One good thing about afternoon games for today and tomorrow is that the Astros got stuck with afternoon games all through the Red Sox series, and that turned out great.

We allowed 2 2-out 3 run homers to the first row of seats. Some days the baseball gods kick you in the nuts. As long as we don't start striking out I am confident the offense will bounce back. We roughed up Sonny Gray once this year and he has not been consistent of late.

Pretty much sums up the key moments of Game 3.

Tonight is still a must win for the Yankees, with Keuchel and Verlander on deck.

I think this is the game that tells us if we can win the whole damn thing. Keuchel, Verlander, and LMC of old could take the Dodgers.

what this game tells you is we can't trust our bull pen at all... we are all in with out starters and our former starters as relievers....

no bull pen from the season can be trusted... It's Keuchel till his arm falls off and if it does it's McHugh... then it's
Verlander for 15 or more

If God does indeed show himself in nature, then between Baylor scandals, Astros chokes, Texans myriad of heartbreaking injuries, I think it's best I just give up on sports.

Why? He helped get us here. Not his fault Giles all of a sudden went to hanging sliders.

He only got us to the ALCS

Idk. He's just so emotionless. He made some questionable moves, too. Leave McCullers in longer. Don't pitch to Judge.

But yeah, the bullpen was awful. Correa and Altuve goofed on that Frazier play. The bats are still quiet.

Why? He made the right calls today. We only got three ****ing hits. Three ****ing hits. Three ****ing hits. Three ****ing hits.

Three.

If we lose today, I think we lose the ALCS. No worries about Dallas, but we have to get hits and runs.

Probably so. I expect Dallas to be his normal self today but we are not going to win a one run game in NY. The bats must produce.

Yes, and leaving Knepper in for the ninth probably haunted Hal Lanier in 1986.

He is 1-1 in this series. Leaving in Verlander for Game 2 took some guts even with the way he was pitching, but it worked out great. Taking McCullers out was obviously the wrong decision at the time.

He has some big time decisions to make up for it coming with Keuchel and Verlander. We can only hope he is deciding whether to leave them in or take them out with a lead late like he was with McCullers.

Additionally, he has a conundrum for a possible Game 7. Pitch Morton, who had some unbelievable bad luck or pitch McCullers on 3 days rest who looked dominate, but its on 3 days. Glad I am not him right now.

I'm thinking we won't seen Devo again this series and may not see Giles.... use the Starters who aren't starting in relief.... McHugh, Peacock, and Morton

Did Biggio and Bagwell give a post season hitting clinic before this series? The complete disappearance of the bats, even in the wins, is almost unbelievable.

No hitting

Lousy coaching

We're done

We might win Game 6 but there's no energy in this team now.

Yeah, but it may well be next season before that happens.

Yes, we're bound to better at home, but the last three games have included some uncharacteristic mistakes and brain-farts.

Looking at the dugout today, you'd think they showed up for a funeral instead of a game.
