STILLWATER, Okla. – Baylor baseball (9-14, 2-3) dropped its second consecutive game to No. 20 Oklahoma State (19-5, 3-2), 15-8, Saturday night at O’Brate Stadium.

In the loss, BU’s offense tied a season-high with 14 hits, and five Bears had multi-hit games.

Sophomore third baseman Hunter Teplanszky hit his first two career home runs. Junior left fielder Hunter Simmons went 3-4 with two RBIs, and sophomore catcher Cortlan Castle went 2-5 with a solo shot, the first of his career.

Baylor’s pitching staff combined to surrender 12 walks in Saturday’s loss.

The difference in Saturday’s defeat ultimately came down to walks. While Baylor outhit Oklahoma State, 14-to-13, BU’s pitching staff combined to hand out 12 free passes, and Oklahoma State only handed out two.

Sophomore RHP Mason Marriott started on the bump for the Bears. After a dazzling one-run outing last weekend against Kansas State, Marriott had the worst start of his young career against the potent Pokes lineup.

Entering the weekend, Oklahoma State led the Big 12 with 40 home runs in 22 games. OSU continued its hot streak, hitting four homers off of Marriott.

Marriott finished allowing 13 runs, 12 of which were earned, and 9 hits while surrendering five walks on 93 pitches in 3.2 innings pitched.

Baylor’s offense trimmed the OSU lead to 13-6 with a four-run seventh inning. Teplanszky and redshirt freshman right fielder Gavin Brzozowski added two-run homers in the inning.

Junior RHP Jared Matheson pitched in relief and walked five batters in only 1.2 innings. Two of those free passes came around to score and extended the Oklahoma State lead to 15-6 in the bottom of the seventh.

Simmons added a two-out, two-RBI single in the eighth inning.
