All Sports Report: Softball Heading to Big 12 Tournament

Baseball
• Baseball has eight games remaining, including six conference contests, as the Bears sit in 11th place in the Big 12 standings.
• BU is 1.5 games behind 10th-place Texas Tech and 2.5 games behind UCF, with a three-game series against the Knights still on the docket.
• Junior RHP Mason Marriott threw a career-best 8.0 IP and surrendered just two runs on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts Friday night in a loss to TCU.
• Sophomore LHP Ethan Calder posted a career-high 6.2 frames in relief in Saturday’s extra-innings affair against the Horned Frogs.
• Senior RHP Jared Matheson gets the start tonight for BU against Tarleton. He is 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA across 35 IP in 11 career midweek starts.
Men’s Golf
• Men’s golf earned the No. 6 seed in the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional, set for May 13-15 at the UNC Finley Golf Club.
• BU has now participated in 25 of the last 26 NCAA postseasons and 30 overall in program history. Baylor will seek to be one of the five teams to advance from the regional round to the NCAA Championships in Carlsbad, Calif., May 24-29.
• BU has advanced out of the regionals seven times in program history and five times under Coach Mike McGraw. Baylor’s best finish at the NCAA’s in the McGraw Era was a tie for fifth when they reached the Match Play Quarterfinals in 2017 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Hill, Ill.
• Johnny Keefer is currently tied for the best stroke average in program history
Women’s Golf
• Women’s golf is playing in its seventh-straight NCAA regional at the Las Vegas Regional at Spanish Trail Country Club on Monday-Wednesday.
• The Bears are aiming for a fourth-straight trip to the NCAA Championship.
• BU is one of eight teams to make five of the last six NCAA Championships.
Softball
• The Bears are coming off of their third-straight conference series sweep after defeating Houston three times last weekend.
• The Bears have now won nine of their last 10 contests.
• Baylor heads to the 2024 Phillips 66 Big 12 Softball Tournament this week as the No. 4 seed and will face UCF in the first round on Thursday, May 9, at 7:30 p.m. in Oklahoma City.
Men’s Tennis
• Men’s tennis advanced to its 21st consecutive NCAA Tournament, appearing in the NCAA College Station Regional on Friday morning.
• After a full day of rain delays, the 39th-ranked Bears fell vs. No. 18 San Diego, 4-1 in a close match that saw the Bears in third sets on two singles courts leading on court 3 behind freshman Devin Badenhorst when the match was clinched.
• Senior Tadeas Paroulek won his final match as a Bear, the 54th of his career, with the Bears owning a team-leading singles wins from Badenhorst (14) in spring play.
Women’s Tennis
• Baylor advanced to its 25th all-time NCAA Tournament and the 18th under 21st year head coach Joey Scrivano.
• The 34th-ranked Bears faced No. 32 LSU in the first round and after dropping the doubles point, used a valiant comeback to nearly win the match in singles, taking three courts but falling in the upset bid in a pair of third-set matches.
• The Bears were led throughout the year by senior transfer Miska Kadleckova, who went 17-4 in singles and earned a top-100 ranking.
Track & Field
• Baylor is hosting Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday-Saturday at the Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium for the first time since 2018.
• The decathlon and heptathlon kick off the championship on Thursday at 11:30 a.m., and the women’s 4x400 is scheduled to end the meet at approximately 9 p.m. on Saturday.

• Nathaniel Ezekiel (No. 3, 400mH), Zaza Prosper Nnamdi (No. 3, javelin), Alexis Brown (No. 5, long jump), Molly Haywood (No. 5 pole vault) and Alencia Lentz (No. 10 pole vault) all hold top 10 national marks entering the post season.
