WACO, Texas – Lauren Briseño of the 18th-ranked Baylor volleyball team has earned the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honor, the conference announced Tuesday.

Briseño, a senior libero, earned the accolade after a 2-1 week for the Bears, besting Rice on Sept. 3 with her 12 digs and four assists.

She posted a career-high 31 digs against then-No. 18 Minnesota on Friday, helping earn her Bears the five-set win. Amongst those digs was the 1,000th of her career.

She then went on to record a double-double with 17 digs and 10 assists, a first for the senior, against then-No. 6 Wisconsin on Saturday.

The senior ended the week with zero reception errors and 32 receptions. This is the first career conference weekly honor for Briseño.

Briseño and the Bears face SMU on Tuesday night before hosting the Baylor Invitational with LSU and Samford on Thursday and Sunday. Fans interested in purchasing tickets for home matches can visit BaylorBears.com/Tickets. All seats are general admission for volleyball in the Ferrell Center.
