Baylor Volleyball’s Briseño Earns Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week
WACO, Texas – Lauren Briseño of the 18th-ranked Baylor volleyball team has earned the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honor, the conference announced Tuesday.
Briseño, a senior libero, earned the accolade after a 2-1 week for the Bears, besting Rice on Sept. 3 with her 12 digs and four assists.
She posted a career-high 31 digs against then-No. 18 Minnesota on Friday, helping earn her Bears the five-set win. Amongst those digs was the 1,000th of her career.
She then went on to record a double-double with 17 digs and 10 assists, a first for the senior, against then-No. 6 Wisconsin on Saturday.
The senior ended the week with zero reception errors and 32 receptions. This is the first career conference weekly honor for Briseño.
