
Baylor Softball Falls Against No. 22 Missouri, 8-3
CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – Baylor Softball fell against No. 22 Missouri, 8-3, Friday afternoon at the Mary Nutter Classic.
THE RUNDOWN
Missouri took the early lead in the Bears’ lone game on Friday, after a lead off home run. With the 1-0 lead already a two-run long ball with two outs in the first but the Tigers up by three.
Baylor answered in the bottom half of the inning after Prelsigh Pilon was hit by a pitch and Shaylon Govan singled to put two on and in scoring position. Abi Flores then notched the one-out double to the wall in left-center to cut the Tigers lead to one run.
After allowing another home run in the top of the third, Baylor’s Govan launched her second long ball of the season over the wall in left field to again bring the Bears within one run.
Trailing, 4-3, the Bears weren’t able to hold off the Tigers defense after two scoreless innings and Missouri plated one run in the sixth and three runs in the seventh to go up 8-3 on the Bears.
Leah Cran singled in the bottom of the seventh, but no runs would come across as the Bears ultimately fell, 8-3.
