As previously assessed to be a likely necessity, Russia has had to withdraw forces from the eastern end of their lines to reinforce the Orkhiv axis. Russia has no reserves to throw at any breakout.

Have also seen reports Ukes are in contact at Ocheretuvate.

"In contact" could (and often does) actually mean "Russians are firing at stuff," which could be quite some distance away. The Spriggan manpat, for example, t has a published range of 5.5km, which is about the distance from Ocheretuvate to Verbove. So it's not at all unreasonable that a position in NE of Ocher would be firing in support of an assault on Verbove. More accurate, though, to describe such a report as confirmation of developments in Verbove, than situation in Ocher....

Excellent analysis here, illustrating Ukes apparently have identified a weak point in the Surovkin line near Verbove. Russians appear to recognize the line will be unsustainable and are conducting additional new fortifications further south

Perhaps the weakness Uke spotted in Russian fortifications is that Russians nay have included Verbove itself as part of the defensive line.

No, they're not surrendering! They're fully mobilizing their industry to prepare for war. So they should be ready in a year or two, assuming the Russians are polite and decide to wait for them.

Ukraine will never run out of ammo or equipment because the USA & EU ruling classes are determine to fund this war out into eternity….no matter if average American and European taxpayers and voters oppose it or not.

But what Ukraine is gonna run out of is young fighting age men at some point.

This war ends when the Nation being invaded decides to settle. It is their Nation at stake. You keep interjecting your political believes into this situation. Ukraine is asking for support to survive, NATO is providing tools.

It ends 1 of 2 ways, Ukraine says "No Mas" or Putin pulls his troops out. That is it. You may want to ask the average Ukrainian if they want to capitulate to Putin.

Red's keen interest on demographics has negatively affected his perception of dynamics in Ukraine. None of the situations listed above ended because the parties involved ran out of men to put in uniform. Iran/Iraq in particular does not fit. The smaller nation finished the war stronger, thanks in no small part to massive international assistance. France 1917 is at least a partially pertinent example, though.. France had lost in the war 1m men out of an available pool of 20m. No shortage of men at all. But the shocking losses caused combat ineffectiveness = French soldiers refused to attack. Russia is on the verge of this dynamic..... Ukraine does not face nearly the population disparity with Russia that Iraq faced with Iran, and has similar levels of foreign support. So this can go on for longer than Russia can bear.

The international community stepped up to support Saddam in the I-I War because they were alarmed at the revolutionary zeal of the Iranian mullah regime. And that support did keep the war going, which did substantially reduce Iranian capabilities to project power. They were a financial and industrial wreck at the end of the war. Their air force was spent, and still is. All they could do was asymmetrical gamesmanship around the world. That's still partly true today.

That is what's at play here. Europe is stepping up to bleed Russia dry, so that they cannot pose a military threat to anyone for a good 30 years or so. It's working magnificently, and could have the added bonus of regime change.

"Saddam invaded Kuwait to annul his debts accrued from the Iran-Iraq war"

Iraq ended that war with lots of weapons and a seasoned army officer corp because of Western support...but they were fought to a stand still by Iran using their superior numbers of men and human wave tactics.

Iraq failed in that war precisely because of the superior numbers of Iranians. Iraq pop. of 16.9 million in 1988 vs Iran's 53 million people.

And Iraq was so broke from the fighting that Saddam made a foolish gamble to invade Kuwait to try and stop the bleeding of cash out of the country and annul the Iraqi debt. Leading to an Iraqi disasterous war with the USA.

[The war cost both sides in lives and economic damage: about half a million Iraqi and Iranian soldiers and an equivalent number of civilians died, with many more injured; however, the war brought neither reparations nor changes in borders. The conflict has been compared to World War I in terms of the tactics used, including large-scale trench warfare with barbed wire stretched across trenches, manned machine gun posts, bayonet charges, human wave attacks across a no man's land, and extensive use of chemical weapons such as sulfur mustard by the Iraqi government against Iranian troops, civilians, and Kurds. The world powers United States and the Soviet Union, together with many Western and Arab countries, provided military, intelligence, economic, and political support for Iraq.]

Had Iraq had the 53 million population...and Iran had the 16 million pop....Iraq would have won easily

Demographics matters.

p.s.

The more you think about it the more there are serious comparison points to be made between the Iran-Iraq war and the Russo-Ukrainian war

Strange that you find that hypocritical. I share your disgust at the leftist overreach on and exaggeration of white supremacy as an issue in our country. At the same time, I sure as heck will call out white supremacy here and abroad, and I'm even more disgusted by those idiots.

But, none of that has anything to do with my support for Ukraine. Ukraine is not a Nazi-esque country. Not even close. Like most countries, including Russia, they have a very small % of white supremacists, and yes, about 900 of them formed a brigade that fights for Ukraine. I wish Ukraine had zero of them, but that is #1438 on my list of relevant factors to consider in in staking a position on the war, especially when Russia has even more of them. So, I agree, in that context, it is no big deal.

But you'd be perfectly ok with neo-Nazis in the US going to war with our government or the liberal corporate media.

But I would actually not be ok with neo-Nazis going to war inside our country…with the government or anyone else.

That is a dumb thing to say in general and even crazier thing to say since you knew me personally in college.

Luckily neo-nazism is a fringe prison gang sort of phenomena in the USA and mostly a propaganda item to be used by the media to smear social conservatives.

Unfortunately in Ukraine the Zelensky regime has actual real life armed neo-Nazi battalions fighting for them.

Of course that does not bother you….because nothing Ukraine does or Washington supports seems to bother you.

I didn't realize we were out of ammo and the Ukrainians are being forced to surrender today.

Ukraine will never run out of ammo or equipment because the USA & EU ruling classes are determine to fund this war out into eternity….no matter if average American and European taxpayers and voters oppose it or not.

But what Ukraine is gonna run out of is young fighting age men at some point.

Eventually the smaller nation runs out of fighting men before the larger populated nation.

You obviously don't fully understand Red . . . His sole concerns are (1) the Ukrainian people (95% of whom fully support defending their country); (2) the American taxpayer (who is spending less than 1/1000th of 1% of budget sending $ and equipment to Ukraine); and (3) defeating Nazis.

1. I don't give a sh*t about the Ukrainian people or the Russian people

[To lighten the mood, King George joked "There is an opinion among some people that you are not the most attached of all your countrymen to the manners of France." To which John Adams replied "I must avow to your Majesty, I have no attachment to any country but my own." King George smiled ever so slightly and remarked "An honest man will never have any other."'

2. Even 1% of the USA budget spend on foreign proxy wars is money that could be spend here at home on our own people.

3. I don't personally care if neo-Nazis are fighting for Ukraine or for Russia. Nor do I care if they are taking each other out in battle. I do care that the Western media system spends endless amounts of time talking about "White supremacy" as this super dangerous bogeyman and freaking out over things like civil war statues here at home....yet spills endless amounts of ink to explain away how its just no big deal that actual armed neo-Nazis are fighting for the Kyiv Regime in the Donbas.

im not pro-Washington all the time by a damn sight. And your example of neo-Nazis being a fringe population in the US is exactly what it is in Ukraine as well. A fringe population. Yes, they do have their own little battalion that has been fighting against Russia for a decade for Ukrainian territory, but it is exactly that….a fringe segment.

Well then the argument is that American State media (NPR,) and Washington aligned media (CNN, MSNBC, etc.) uses a fringe neo-nazi phenomena to attack its enemies....domestic political enemies I might add....aka the American people and taxpayers.

While Russian State media (Pravda) uses a fringe neo-Nazi phenome in Ukraine to justifying attacking its enemies.

And of course which one do you suppose is the greater threat to the American people, their Constitutional liberties, and their rights?

Or to make the question more plain...why are you so concerned with what is happening in Ukraine (5,930 mi from Waco) and not what is happening here in the USA?

It's quite apparent that you can't be bent to the nuance that I abhor the American left and their liberal use of the term nazi to label everything they disagree with while also supporting the decision to aide Ukraine in fighting an existential war because recidivist Russia is attempting the same rubric (in addition to their idea that the USSR is Russia)

Please....you just insinuated that I would have no problem cheering on a neo-Nazi attack on the U.S. government.

You love that sort of outlandish goofball attack style of trying to insinuate that your opponents are secretly nazis, or racists, or anti-semities....you do it all the time on this forum.

Check out comments from Russian commander regarding Uke fire superiority.

Also note significance of Russian troop movements = moving degraded but experienced troops from the eastern front to Zapo, to be replaced by raw recruits. That should effectively end Russian offensive efforts on the eastern front (which have accomplished nothing anyway).
