The question everyone should be asking is why this specifically and why now specifically?

Hmmmmmm
the useful idiot is no longer useful

Dems are far more ruthless than Republicans…..and when it comes to maintaining political power …..ruthlessness is vital.

Biden has served his purpose….now he is in the process of getting dumped .

No doubt terms for his 'golden parachute' are being negotiated.

You have to at least be strongly suspicious that's what's going on here. Dementia Joe and for that matter the rest of his family have been among the most protected people in the country by the dims, the swamp, and their teammates in the media. Before this classified document drama erupted there were plenty of even more serious issues to put him, Hunter and his brother away for their corrupt influence peddling that has compromised him with countries like China, Ukraine, Russia and maybe even Iran. If it's not an effort by the dims and their fellow conspirators in the media to ease him out, then why all the sudden interest in actually holding the man accountable for something??

Michelle Obama 2024 anyone??
We don't need another affirmative action moron in power. Let's actually have the opportunity to elect a competent person for president.

Of course we don't need that just like we don't need Presidents with dementia, or brain damaged Senators like Fetterman, or out and out idiot Congressional Reps like AOC, etc., etc. I was just expressing suspicion and speculating about the possible real motive/reason behind the apparent sudden interest in potentially holding dementia Joe accountable for something - which could well be to clear the way for a Michelle Obama 2024 run, or otherwise clear the way for whomever the dim power brokers want to be their next POTUS candidate.

Who needs fiction with true statements like that..

What was security clearance of the movers?
Most likely it was GSA just like the ones that move Trump stuff. Just shows they have a prior history of negligence and stupidity
Nope.

"The University of Pennsylvania, which runs the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C., where classified documents were recently discovered from Biden's time as vice president, has received millions from unnamed Chinese donors since Joe Biden became president, a new investigation found." . . .

"The names of the donors are concealed by the Department of Education, which is required to report donations to universities it funds with federal dollars. The agency reportedly declined a request to provide the names."

The TDSers who told us Trump's overdue library books were A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY are oddly silent suddenly ... now that Sloppy Joe had top secret documents scattered around Hunter's home - which he was renting from China Joe for $50K / month - and Sloppy's "think tank" got millions in overseas dark money due to the top secret documents scattered in the office ...

Exactly. Not to mention the Beta librarian. Either he's terrible at his job and does not track or has TDS. Amazing how the National Archives librarians only seem to notice with President Trump might have had an overdue library book but never noticed Biden (and likely others) - who are not legally allowed to have - just have them thrown around their houses, Chinese offices, etc.

Of course they hid it. We all know it. It's all about getting democrats elected.

The surprising thing (ot not surprising depending on how you look at it) is that the liberal rags are now running with the story. It does indeed show their ulterior motives.

If it is serious for Trump, it is serious for Biden. Likewise, if it is no big deal for Trump, it is no big deal for Biden. If one is prosecuted, the other will be.
This is a huge gift for Trump. Always Trumpers love the Dear Leader more whenever He is attacked. Look for a new round of trading cards. Always Trumpers are already putting Trump 24 flags on their cars.
Democrats will flush Biden & get a better candidate.

false equivalence.

POTUS has unchecked declassification authority. He can talk about a memorandum dissemination (highest possible compartmentation) with anyone in the world, to get advice, or encourage cooperation, or to whack a foreign leader about the head with it in negotiations. He could walk out on a stage in front of TV cameras and read a TopSecret intelligence report to the world on the spur of a moment if he thought it was in the interest of the USA. If a POTUS sticks a document in his briefcase and takes it with him to the residence in the WH, or brings it along to read on AF1, or to a motel in a foreign country, or have a conversation about classified information with anyone along the way.....it's all perfectly legal and normal. All classification and declassification authority flows from POTUS. It is POTUS who determines how, when, where, who to delegate class/declas authority. It is virtually impossible for a POTUS to commit what those of us who served in the classified world knew fearfully as "a security violation." That's why they're trying to ring Trump up on violation of technicalities of the PRA......not for taking them or having them, but for not giving them back.

VPOTUS and Senators do not have any of that, no more discretionary power than a duty officer at Dover AFB over handling of classified material.

Trump's defense for the docs at MAL is that the docs in question were defacto declassified by his possession of them outside a SCIF. (and there is a longer list of grounds in the PRA).

VPOTUS and Senators have no such defense. None.

The MAL raid was all about the mid-terms. As was the decision not to reveal the discovery of classified docs in Biden's personal possessions. Neither issue will have much impact on the course of future events, unless House investigations can highlight how DOJ/FBI handled the two situations. But even then, it's a ratifier of a larger issue - the dual standard of justice.

1. Do you believe Trump could declassify by merely thinking it so, or is there anything else required?
If 1 is true, could Obama declassify the docs Biden took by "thinking" them declassified?

My point is I hope there is a higher standard for declassification than mere "thinking them declassified" retrospectively.

Its a false equivalence because Biden was VP when he took these documents which makes it illegal.

Trump had power to declassify anything.
1. Do you believe Trump could declassify by merely thinking it so, or is there anything else required?
If 1 is true, could Obama declassify the docs Biden took by "thinking" them declassified?

My point is I hope there is a higher standard for declassification than mere "thinking them declassified" retrospectively.

If he reveals the info to an ally or adversary, for whatever reason(s) he thinks appropriate, it is declassified. Are we really going to debate whether the thought or the action is the threshold?

A former vice president stole classified documents for which he did not have access.

The former vice president left them in his garage and in a public office.

The university that hosted his think tank received $55M from China after the think tank was established.

Only in clown world 'murica would this not be a front-age story.

Interesting that Biden's defenders are saying the same thing (false equivalence) and then come to the conclusion that Trump should be indicted.

DOJ needs to end this sorry affair, but now it is in the hands of special prosecutors. Who knows when it will end, but it need to end.

This is not complicated. A president can de-classify documents. Obama is not president last time I checked, so the answer to your question is "no."

Also, presidents also have more power to possess classified material than vice presidents no matter what disinformation is posted.

The difference besides Trump was president and acted consistently with every previous president. Th eonly difference was there was not a librarian with TDS wanting to pitch a fit and a weaponized FBI willing to make a show raid against a political opponent. The documents also were locked inside a secure compound guarded by the Secret Service. Biden had unquestionably no right to the documents, and there were scattered in garages, living areas of homes, "offices" etc. All of those locations were owned, visited by, or given millions by foreign governments after Biden stole the documents, which while not definitive is suspicious.

Besides, you TDSers told us Trump had the nuclear codes and was selling the to China and having one classified document was A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY!

No it doesn't. The VP has similar prerogatives to those of the president.

Uh, no.
Read the EO.

EO - that sounds like the power granted the VO originated from the president. An EO is not limiting all the power availble to the president but all those beneath POTUS.

The VP clearly does NOT have similar powers as the president.
