Do you really believe Donald Trump is going to be found innocent on both the state and federal charges and defeat the Democratic Party nominee in the general election this November ?
Of course he does. His sycophants could never be accused of thinking rationally.
He's not going to be found guilty on the federal charges because those trials are not going to happen before the election.

The state trials are political theater and will likely help him more than hurt him (as they have thus far), no matter how they turn out.

Your premise is that a conviction seals his fate, the "thing" that finally does him in.
If there's one consistent them in the dramas of the Donald Trump era, it's that he's the Roadrunner and his critics are Wile E. Coyote.

I've never said anything of the sort. As I said, the guy could kill a family' of four and people such as yourself would still support him.

When he's convicted it won't make a lick of difference for the sycophants and certainly won't "do him in." No he won't win the general election, but that was never going to happen anyway.

I have no doubt trump will be the nominee and get his ass kicked once again, regardless of whatever happens in his various trials.

Out of curiosity, who do you think is retiring from the Supreme Court in a few short years? Maybe Justice Thomas, but that's by no means a given. I don't see Biden achieving a liberal majority in any event.

Should conservatives just grin and bear disastrous policies that will do irreversible damage until there's a candidate who checks all the boxes? Is it truly better to put a liberal in power than a conservative we may not like but can live with?

Let's be honest Sam. Your thought process long preceded the trump election. I've never understood the logic behind it.

90% of the time, the damage is done in the fed district courts and courts of appeals. Biden is transforming those at an alarming rate and will continue to do so.

Trump never checked all the boxes, but I voted for him once. I don't consider him a conservative any longer. It's common to say that politicians we disagree with are fascistic or that they have no regard for the Constitution. But for the most part they do respect constitutional processes and abide by the results. Not so with Trump. He's shown himself to be a rank authoritarian with literally no regard for the law. Supporting him for the sake of his policies is a deal with the devil.

Fair enough, but SCOTUS still has the last word. Trump's first term was the crucial time in that respect. That's the main reason I voted for him in the first place. Conservatives now have the safest majority in a lifetime, and I don't see us losing it for a while.

More Americans than not are ok with Trump not being on ballots in some states. A third want him entirely disqualified.

You ROMLs (rabid orange man love) and zealots better wake up! He is not gonna win! Just wait until everything he says is front and center again. Media is combing through his 4 years for the juiciest clips and quotes, and boy do I remember some doozies.

I hope to see the bleach comment again!

No, I might call you names for voting for him, but I would tell you to vote for someone you believe in. And don't let me or anyone tell you how to vote.

Unlike the zealots of the right and left, I love this country, I love our democracy, and I am fully willing to live with the results of the upcoming election. Wont threaten to move to Canada or anything, promise. Just heckle Trumpies for the next 4 years of a joke of a President.

The fact that we're arguing over who's to blame for a Biden victory, as if that's the worst thing imaginable, says everything about what's wrong with the GOP. Say what you will about the Dems and their evil ideas, but at least they believe in something. Republicans are so fearful and desperate that they'll vote for a literal fascist if that's what it takes to get power.

Short-sighted pragmatism is no real pragmatism at all. A Trump victory will be the end of the GOP's credibility as any sort of conservative party. It's all nazis vs. commies from here on out, just like old Europe once upon a time (and quite possibly again).
Open borders with millions of illegals entering our country annually demanding perpetual care.

Blundering out of Afghanistan leaving over 4 billion dollars worth of military equipment to the most vicious terrorist organization in the world

Directly provoking a proxy war with Russia using the lives of thousands of Ukrainian civilians as cannon fodder.

Openly converting the DOJ and FBI into the ' muscle ' of the Democratic Party.

Constantly advocating hatred and discrimination against people with lighter shades of skin color.

Spending trillions of dollars the country simply does not possess resulting in rampant inflation.

All while the Presidency and Senate are controlled by the Democrats.

Amazing that all those things are true and yet there is a large segment of conservatives in America who think our biggest issue is that we are not supporting ukriane or Israel enough in their wars.

Our country is being transformed in front of our eyes (into some very dark) and yet it's foreign wars that get them animated

I don't know what circles you run with, but I can honestly say that Ukraine and Israel do not come up in conversations at all. Border, Economy, Social Media issues, Generational differences, and sick of same old Political candidates all come up. Ukraine? Israel? Funding Foreign Policy? Can't name a conversation on that in a long time.

I just spent a week in Washington DC and neither came up. ...

And yet Washington DC can always come up with $200 billion for Ukraine and $20 billion for Israel…..but no money for a border wall.

Maybe the Conservatives you run with are lying about their priorities? Or maybe they are just powerless in DC?
I am there for work, I have no idea of the people's political alliance, doesn't come up. I was around the Convention Center all week. It really was not at all like the news and the social media portray. Always surprises me..

How do you think social media portrays DC?

To me it's always portrayed as a very rich very nice city…and with a populace that votes 95% for the Democratic Party

Well, it definitely was not political. They were more apt to discuss different Scotch and Whiskies than politics! DC itself is one of the few Cities I have no problem staying in City Center. NY, SF, Phil, Seattle, Boston are **** holes. LA surprised me on how nice Downtown was this year.

DC was enjoyable, clean and good food.

So, I'm not voting for Trump in the primary, but if he wins the nomination, are you saying I still shouldn't vote for him in the general?

No, I might call you names for voting for him,

Unlike the zealots of the right and left, I love this country,

LOL

Classic

If you are over the age of 14, some professional counseling might be in order.

Because I said I love the country? Is Motha or old bear paying you to try to troll me? You seem to have fetishized my posts to the point that it is a little uncomfortable. You want to talk about my age, marital status, income, where I got my degree.... I appreciate the attention but I'm not sure it is warranted. Just saying I love Murica.

MURICA!!!

Because you admit calling other people names yet in the same post refer to others as 'zealots' .

LOL

Do you possess even the slightest amount of self awareness ?

You admit to fetishizing my posts?

LOL

You simply have to be a severely underemployed youngster

Not only childish but totally lacking in self awareness.

Oh I definitely treat you zealots like the jokes you are. And I post tongue in cheek a lot. Exactly what politics needs. You're welcome!

By the way, id at least accuse zealots of doing a lot more than calling names.

Yep, part time burger flipper , full time inarticulate champion of the internet.

Well done !

I might have that one hung on a wall.

Do you really believe Donald Trump is going to be found innocent on both the state and federal charges and defeat the Democratic Party nominee in the general election this November ?
Of course he does. His sycophants could never be accused of thinking rationally.

I am actually not a huge fan of Trump (he had his shot/time in the Big chair and I'm ready to move on to another candidate)

But it's pretty mean spirited to call the majority of the GOP voting base "sycophants".

Maybe we need to spend some time analyzing why Trump connects so well with the majority voters in the party in a way others don't?

And the answer can not be "me smart…voters stupid"
Sure it can. We have one of the least-informed electorates in the world. As a nation, we are near dead last in terms of our education system, when compared to other Western nations. Like it or not, we are a society of very ill-informed voters, and that exists all across the spectrum. You call that mean-spirited. I call it just stating the obvious. I suspect you wouldn't have a problem at all with me calling those on the left ill-informed.

Now, that's not to say that people cannot identify with and connect with Trump, and what he was purportedly trying to do with his presidency. Hell, I liked the outsider perspective, and no-nonsense he brought to the table. I liked the non-interventionist approach, the crackdown on illegal immigration (somewhat) and calling out China. But at some point, the excess baggage and lack of results should be a stark reminder for MAGA that Trump is not the answer. He had his shot, and failed.

Trump has a cult of personality surrounding him among MAGA. That is a problem that most conservatives should be able to recognize, you included.

The "cult of personality" argument would be a lot more persuasive if there were not a much smaller yet louder and even more irrational "cult of never-anti-Trump"
