This is the stuff he needs to focus, not the loony *****

The Biden administration damn near gutted the country.
Trump faces a huge task attempting to repair the economic, cultural, and foreign policy damage.

Hope the narrow Republican majorities in the house and senate will focus on the big picture and not let their egos derail Trumps efforts…..but I wouldn't count on it.
Well, we do agree that there are overarching issues that HAVE to be addressed, such as the border, China, national debt, and energy. That is 4 years-worth of effort, I would love to see him focus on those things and less on this "war on the so-called Deep State crap".

I also do not like people like Vivek and Musk taking part in gutting the Organization that provides oversight on their activities. I do not trust Vivek or Musk as far as I can throw a car. I fear we are going to see a gutting of regulation, but all regulation not just those that need to be updated or restructured.
SCOTUS has already opened the door to eliminate a substantial amount of the administrative state by killing "Chevron deference." Agencies are going to have to provide obvious, compelling justification for future rules or Courts will intervene.
https://www.scotusblog.com/2024/06/supreme-court-strikes-down-chevron-curtailing-power-of-federal-agencies/

DOGE will identify the most egregious examples of regulatory rules which are not well tethered to statute and eliminate them, thereby rendering unnecessary the employees who administer them. That will send a powerful message to the remaining administrative state to stifle the impulse to expand power.

So many examples. What Obama did with the Waters of the USA Act to seize regulatory authority far beyond navigable waters, up into faintly identifiable folds in level high ground. What Biden did with Title IX, literally inverting it inside/out to force biological males into spaces previously protected for women. Etc..... Just look at the "pull it out of your ass" levels of overreach in the cases that resulted in overturning Chevron - unreasonable levels of oversight and fines without any statutory justification whatsoever....actually deciding to charge businesses for the cost of having regulators on site (when the law actually empowered neither the on-site regulation nor the charge for it.)

Chevron drove 3 decades of massive expansion of the administrative state. Paring it back by a third or more would be quite healthy for all concerned. It's also going to make Congress work a lot harder. They can no longer pass a bill full of authority and delegate all the parameters for bureaucrats to flesh out over time.

I have no issues with any of what you say. As long as there is some analysis of what the 1/3 is supposed to do before eliminated and the receiving organizations (Fed, State or Private) know that they need to handle that responsibility going forward BEFORE it is thrown on them.

As much as some of the people on here want to believe Trump can take a Sharpie and there will be no difference, there will be ramifications. Everyone needs to understand the ramifications of any of the actions, which includes less environmental control. I don't want to see more benzene in drinking water or rivers on fire.

I worked in the Panhandle and helped get grants to deal with the water pollution, it doesn't matter until you or someone you know comes up with lymphoma and find out there is benzene in the water. Then have to listen to the lawyers explain how there is no liability. This is when I ceased being a Pro Football fan, Emmitt Smith was holding out for millions and we couldn't get 500k for a water purification plant. Sort of pisses you off if you are involved. I DO NOT trust Vivek or Musk to do what is right.

nobody wants benzene in the water.

Vivek and Musk wielding machetes is exactly the needed balance to the relentless expansion of the administrative state. It always expands. it never retreats. very rare for bureaucrats to decline opportunities to expand their jurisdiction. Ever heard one say "not my department. do whatever the hell you want." That's because federal regulations are so comprehensive that it's impossible for most of us to comply with it. We're always in violation of something.

So what if we over trim the bureaucracy. We can always build it back. And inevitably will. Your kids & grandkids will then have to find their own incarnations of Vivek and Elon to whack the jungle back into submission. So let's make it easier for them by lowering the baseline a bit.

The risk is not crocodile bites. It's alligator arms. We have a rare moment when there is political will to radically restructure things. If we don't do it now, it'll be a generation of additional growth before we summon the will to put things back in proper proportions.

It's primarily the greed and corruption of people in government: politicians & bureaucrats. They have lots of power & little accountability. Sure, there is greed and corruption in plenty of other places: Hollywood, the media, academia, Big Tech, Big Pharma, etc. All of these examples are dominated by the Left. Are conservatives & others also greedy & corrupt? Of course they are! It's human nature. We are all sinners & tend to be selfish. We have to work hard to be otherwise which is one reason Christian's don't always seem very different although they know better. But it's when those qualities are in government that they are most often abused and with greater damage to society.

It's not like the choice is between two ridiculous extremes: get rid of all regulations and live without clean air & water or live under a totalitarian dictatorship. There are some regulations that make sense and should remain. But there are far more idiotic rules & regulations and the bureaucracies that enforce them have far too much power without any real accountability. That's why FEMA proved worthless in the aftermath of hurricanes, the IRS under Obama targeted the Tea Party & other groups, the FBI created a riot on J6, the DoJ used law fare to undermine Trump (and helped him win in a landslide!), & many other examples.

And it is in the Left, with its hold over so many institutions of power & abuse of that power, where we find totalitarian tendencies: censorship, the FBI acting like the Gestapo, DoJ law fare, etc. The government's primary function is to protect our rights. Instead they are the biggest threat to our rights.

President-elect Donald Trump plans to fire the entire team that worked with special counsel Jack Smith to pursue two federal prosecutions against the former president, including career attorneys typically protected from political retribution, according to two individuals close to Trump's transition.

Trump is also planning to assemble investigative teams within the Justice Department to hunt for evidence in battleground states that fraud tainted the 2020 election, one of the people said.
GOOD!

why would anyone be troubled by this, given the outrageous things we have seen in election fraud and lawfare?
Bad policy. When the next Democrat president is elected, will his AG prosecute the prosecutors who prosecute Biden's prosecutors. Lawfare never ends?

Pam Bondi, Trump's AG pick, said 'prosecutors will be prosecuted'
"The prosecutors will be prosecuted, the bad ones," Bondi declared on Fox News in 2023, soon after Trump's fourth set of criminal charges. "The investigators will be investigated."
Bondi, a former Florida state attorney general, is drawing newfound attention since President-elect Trump announced his plans to nominate her to lead the Justice Department as U.S. attorney general.

It won't stop until some of them go to prison for their crimes. Let everyone see exactly what they did and all the evidence against them. Use the legal system them properly in contrast to their abuses.

And when Democrats "prosecute the prosecutors" (all of them Republicans), will that be accountability or fascism?

Dems started this flagrant lawfare.

Time for payback.

10x

And in 4-8 years Dems pay back Republicans

You want Dems to take power and use it to persecute conservatives. No, it's bad public policy

Then Republicans to take power and do nothing....not demand any kind of Justice...or reform the system by holding people accountable for weaponizing the DOJ

Then for Dems to take power again and do it again. No, bad public policy.

Rise and Repeat

Again...are you Mitt Romney posting on here?
Are you Putin posting on here? You're posting very fascist

Me wanting the DOJ to not persecute political enemies and be reformed is a sign of fascism?

You just can't be this stupid.....

You wanted the prosecutors prosecuted, very fascist of you

If they broke the law and went after people based on political view then yes

That is called holding people accountable

Interesting that you think that is "fascism"
And when Democrats "prosecute the prosecutors" (all of them Republicans), will that be accountability or fascism?

If those Republicans broke the law and tried to prosecute people based on their political affiliations, cultural /political beliefs, religious beliefs, and other Constitutional liberties....then yes

You keep making up hypotheticals in the future and ignore the issue at hand.... the weaponization of the DOJ under Biden to go after political opponents

Any prosecutors who engaged in that kind of horrific behavior should be investigated and potentially prosecuted if they broke the law.

Why are you against investigations of government officials?

Never assume anything. With politicians in particular, we have to be vigilant. However, Trump has a popular mandate to clean up the mess created by the fascists.

That is strange....because cleaning up political persecution is fascism according to Osodecentx

And when the Democrats win next, they will claim a "popular mandate to clean up the mess created by the fascists."

Why not just follow the law without prejudice?

Has it? Every time they lose an election they become more radicalized. At least that seems to be the case over the past 30 years.

I assume the DOJ will behave over the next 4 years
how about pursuing criminals regardless of party affiliation, is that okay?

Sure, it's encouraged. For what crimes would you lock up reporters?

I'm no attorney but I believe there are recommendations for specific crimes.

Do you consider lies about Hunter's laptop to be a crime for DOJ officials? If a member of the press "knowingly" colluded with DOJ to keep the info concealed and therefore impact the election, do you consider that to be a crime?

The press probably has plausible deniability if they just reported the info they were fed. However, if they were in on the planning with DOJ to keep the information out of the public , I think that falls under collusion and tampering.

Ending lawfare with eternal lawfare?

You end lawfare by inflicting as much pain as is possible so that it is deterred in the future. Heads need to roll.

And in 2028, Democrats prosecute Republicans who prosecuted Democrats, thus inflicting as much pain as possible & sparking endless lawfare.
Smart
Maybe it's a good idea for Republicans to ignore and let democrats get away with their lawfare?

I said I'm no attorney. I asked your opinion. This is your chance to be the grand jury. Take a shot at it rather than asking me a question I already said I don't have the background to answer.

If "journalists" are guilty of fraud, obstruction of justice, or conspiracy to commit either then they can & should be prosecuted. Those are felonies. Members of the media are not immune from prosecution.

Judicially, they are protected by NY v Sullivan but that has been abused far too much for 50+ years and there are some who want to revisit that. I know of at least one Supreme Court justice who think that way.
