The trial didn't just focus on the night of the fatal shooting, but also on Foster's and Perry's social media activity, and Perry's private messages in the weeks prior to the shooting.
Evidence presented in court shows a
social media post made by Perry on May 31st, 2020 regarding the topic of killing protestors."I might have to kill a few people on my way to work they are rioting outside my apartment complex," prosecutors read out during closing arguments.More messages were shown dated June 1st, 2020, pertaining to a YouTube video, 'protestors, looters, get shot in San Antonio'. According to the court evidence, Perry responded with a message stating,
'Glad someone finally did something.'Several posts were entered into evidence on June 3rd and later dates in June.
Private messages between Perry and a friend from June 13th were also revealed.
The subject matter of those messages pertained to what qualifies as a 'good shoot' and discussions of various protest shootings.Safari searches also entered into evidence revealed Perry looked up protests happening in Austin and Dallas.
"Make sure you only use one shot on the protestors so if they try you have enough. I'll only shoot the ones in the front and push the pedal to the metal," said a prosecutor, reading off the message.https://cbsaustin.com/news/local/a-look-at-the-social-media-timeline-presented-in-the-daniel-perry-case
