Good news on the eastern front. Hopefully we are getting closer to the day that the Russians or maybe the Ukrainians themselves overthrow the fascist regeime in Kiev,
Not so fast on Luhansk.

Your last article is from 2023.

Yes, Trump's cowardly cessation of weapons will hurt badly.

US News, July 1st, 2025.

" MOSCOW (Reuters) -Russia has taken full control of Ukraine's eastern Luhansk region, more than three years after President Vladimir Putin ordered thousands of troops into Ukraine in February 2022, the Russian-backed head of the region told Russian state television."

" Russia controls nearly 19% of what is internationally recognised to be Ukraine, including Luhansk, plus over 70% of the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, and fragments of the Kharkiv, Sumy and Dnipropetrovsk regions."

Russia will win this war, and that is a good thing. No, they aren't going to invade Poland unless Poland decides to attack. But that would be in the play stupid games, win stupid prizes category.

It is entirely possible that Ukraine disappears as a political entity with the eastern portions of the "country" and its Russian population becoming Russian oblasts and the far western portions being absorbed into Poland, Romania, etc.

At this point Russia should cease all advances and announce their list of peace demands

Ukraine should rid themselves of Zelensky

Remember, just a few months ago, the deal was on the table to the US to get a large portion of Ukraine's rare earth minerals. This would have prevented Vlad from advancing in that area AND most likely led to a peace deal that both sides hated but could live with. Stupid Z

Putin massing over 120,000 troops for the final push; as Ukraine is ready to collapse.

As money simply cannot replace lost blood, bone and brain matter.

Hate to see Putin win this; but Biden - Harris totally mishandled the entire situation.

Now unless Trump commits US troops, naval units and a no fly zone..............

Ukranine is finished.

they have nearly a half-million men reaching military age each year.......

They are choosing to fight with older demographic cohorts, but have over the course of the war starting moving the age of conscription downward. (out of necessity)

Much can be said about the limitations Ukraine faces in continuing the war. Manpower is, literally, the least of their concerns.

they will run out of money and weaponry LONG before they run out of manpower.

(same for Russia, who is far weaker in the weapons & money category than their cheerleaders realize.)

The "boomer" ad hominem is really quite amusing. As though a generation could define someone (despite the bewilderingly broad range of political & philosophical views throughout any demographic).

yes, Russia launched a very large missile attack on Kyiv yesterday.
No, that missile attack did not have any impact whatsoever on Ukrainian manpower available for mobilization.

The number of Ukrainians reaching military age EACH YEAR is half the size of the active duty Ukrainian military. So unless Ukraine is suffering casualty rates in excess of 50%, Ukraine will easily have enough soldiers to defend its lines. The strategic limitation Ukraine faces is that it is dependent on foreign support to maintain financing and supplies to keep its army in the field.

Post more when you have something meaningful to say.

Actually generations do have specific general characteristics when viewed from a population wide perspective. While I understand you are perfectly willing to send the next generation of Ukrainians to the grave in a futile war, they may not agree. We shall see. Regardless, Russia will win this war.

We know what Ukrainians think, and they want to defend their country to the death.

Nothing remarkable about that. with some notable exceptions, such is the norm for countries invaded by foreign powers. There is always some level of resistance that takes a bitter ending to kill. We are not very close at all to a bitter end in Ukraine. Ceteris paribus, these two can keep it up for at least 2 more years (at which time Russia will likely be more worse for the wear.

As many have predicted, Russia is at peak mobilization, peak power at this point in time. Ergo why they are so disinterested in peace negotiations. But they can only maintain this level of output it for a few more months. 2026 will be a lot harder for them. And 2027 will be even worse. Ukraine is in a relative stronger position (or perhaps better said "less bad") over that same timeframe.

For those reasons, I would assess a ceasefire to be very unlikely this year.

You mean those fighting age men that are being dragged kicking and screaming as they are pulled into unmarked vans with tinted windows in every major town square?

Yeah I'm sure they are going to fight real hard for a country that abducted them and essentially imposed a death sentence on them by shipping them into a war zone to fight for the losing side.

If I was one of those men who were kidnapped and forced into a fight I wanted no part in, I would execute my commissar at the first opportunity and surrender to the other side.

Forced conscription is an act of desperation, not strength.

Kiev's persecution of the country's largest Christian church is reason enough for Washington to halt military assistance to Ukraine, US Representative Anna Paulina Luna has said, pledging to personally oppose any future weapons shipments.

The Florida Republican accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky of banning the Orthodox Church in a post on X on Friday, apparently referring to ongoing actions against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) the largest religious organization in the country.

"I can promise there will be no weapons funding for you," wrote Luna, who serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

"We are not your piggy bank," she added, calling on Zelensky to "negotiate for peace" instead.
