"The average top salary for a Texas teacher is $64,739, which is more than $13,000 below the national average for a top teacher salary [which by their math then becomes $77,800+]."

The moral of the story is that teachers, along with other functionaries of the public schools are overpaid.

I have taught in 8 public schools in Texas and 2 in Alaska. I have never seen any of these things. The schools ranged from 1A to 5A in central and coastal Texas, and in Alaska one bush school and one school on the grid.
Well, now I think back I have taught lessons in pronoun usage. I bet you and your parents had the same pronoun lessons.

Nope. Have never seen anything like this in school? Is this what your kids get in school?

I would submit that schools have changed quite a bit since you retired. Even in the last five years, there's been a marked change. Does it mean all schools are teaching woke and DEI material? No. But we have numerous examples of those that are.

Except for a year off to relax in Carmen de Playa I have worked in a school as a teacher, principal or sped admin since 1983. Around 10 of those years were abroad. I work in Texas now.

I wonder which happens more often; white supremacist terror or leftist teachers pushing their ideology on their classrooms? Which one were we warned about by mother government?
Our vibrations were getting nasty. But why? I was puzzled, frustrated... Had we deteriorated to the level of dumb beasts?

Probably in a school district where this crap isn't taking place. But I would submit it is in fact happening in a number of school districts in our state if you do a little research, though obviously it's not as bad here as in some of the blue states. CA is a cesspool.

A lot of this corresponded with the hiring of DEI administrators. Richardson ISD is a good example. Hired a gay black man who identifies as "they" to run the DEI programs. They had a "diversity and inclusion" hour, one day a week, where woke **** was taught to grade school kids. As a kid from that area, it's pretty hard to imagine it happening in Richardson of all places, but it was.

Thankfully, the firing of the Superintendent put an end to this *****

Goodness a bit of common sense needs to be injected into this discussion.

1) Of course progressive ideology is being pushed in some school districts somewhere in the United States.
It's happening every day, to deny this is simply foolishness.

2) The last place you would expect it is places like Granbury, Glen Rose, Brock, Gunter, and other similar towns in Texas.

So I would highly doubt any leftist ideaology is being pushed in these very conservative smaller cities and towns.

At the same time, of course, leftist progressive ideaology is being pushed in some very liberal, urban and suburban school districts.

Now with this framework maybe a constructive discussion can be had.

While I'd agree school administrators at both the public and private are vastly over paid (and there's just too many of them), do you really think teachers are overpaid?

Sure, it's fun to point out the rogue teachers who teach their own agenda (who should be reprimanded), but the reality is they represent an incredibly small minority of American teachers.

Most teachers work their ass off, working long days teaching and nights grading and preparing material. My sister has been a teacher at Katy ISD (West Houston) for about 10 years now and can barely afford basic necessities for both her and her son.

There are places in America where left-wing talking points are a core part of the curriculum, but Texas isn't one of them. There are left-wing teachers in Texas, but they are going rogue if they are teaching hard left ideology in class; the same goes for right-wing teachers.

The vast majority of teachers just want to do their job and go home. A few teachers have an ideological axe to grind, but it isn't part of the standard curriculum. If anyone is hunting for blatant ideological bias in printed curriculum, they almost certainly will not find it.

Your kids (grandkids, for many of you) have adopted left-wing beliefs because they had unrestricted Internet access at too early an age. Teachers had very little to do with it.
I generally agree with this, though I will say I have first hand knowledge of a few districts in which the school board and people in the admin have allowed their leftist ideology to seep into the curriculum. Leander ISD is one example, and Richardson ISD is another. Leander had a ton of LGBT material in its required reading lists for middle and high-school aged students. Good news is that the backlash has caused Leander to backtrack, and most of the more sexualized material has been removed. Richardson, on the other hand, had an out of control DEI officer who was teaching a ton of leftist crap in his curriculum in the weekly "diversity and inclusion" hour at the local elementary schools. Backlash there was also swift, with the woke superintendent being removed and the material being excluded.

These are just a couple of examples, and from a couple of years ago when this crap was out of control. The pendulum has definitely started to swing back in the other direction, thankfully.

Your last statement is spot on. I was a small group leader for my oldest son's youth group, and was amazed at the filth that parents allowed their teen boys to see. Unrestricted internet access is a recipe for disaster. It shocks me that conservative and Christian parents aren't doing more to monitor their childrens' social media and internet intake.

It was bizzare to me when Twitter started allowing hardcore porn to be posted on its platform.

Not sure if they have reverted back to the original policy of banning accounts that post those things now that Elon owns them.

Some people are wrong about most things but still on point about some things, but this dude is an example of a guy that's just wrong about everything all the time, lol. I wouldn't trust a restaurant recommendation from him much less an opinion about football or politics. But hey, that's consistency!

Ignores any aspect of the Bible that refutes his woke agenda.
Hates his own past, so constantly attempts to paint all other white people as racist.
Blames the 'rich' for his own destructive life choices while demanding others pay still more in taxes.

And when confronted with facts....always runs away and hides.
Only to reappear a week or so later with some other new foolishness.

This absolutely is happening in TX. Sure it is not part of any official curriculum adopted by the state or even the districts but teachers are absolutely doing it/going rogue. There are news stories all the time about it from all over the state.

The facts are that there's tens of millions of gen z in the US that follow woke ideology in dogmatic fashion. Same with younger millennials.

They believe you can change your gender, identify as whatever you want. That capitalism is evil and that the US and specifically white people are colonizers sitting on stolen land. They're eager to "make things right" and when they get power they will seek revenge.

This is belief system of the future. I think they will pursue censorship and turn the US into a full blown kleptocracy.

They don't want children and they won't be able to afford children which may lead to gen Alpha having completely opposite political views (thank god).

"I felt I had a fiduciary duty to the community to let them know it was not in our school. It was the platform I ran on. But I was told they [the Republican leaders] were not going to report the information I had discovered because it did not go with the agenda they were trying to promote," Gore said.

The agenda that Gore is referring to is the attempt by Gov. Greg Abbot and MAGA Republican leaders to pass education savings accounts, which would let families use state funds to pay for their children's private schooling. Many argue that this voucher program will hurt public schools. Despite the political pressure, this effort has not succeeded due to opposition from Democrats and rural Republicans who are standing up for public education. Depends on what college.

Most girls majoring in education in the Big 12, SEC, and Big 10 just want to get out and work a few years before getting married and quitting the profession.

A few leftist weirdos want to indoctrinate kids into all kinds of strange ideologies.
