Alito is 74. That makes them 80 and 78 in 28.Redbrickbear said:
Justice Thomas for sure

I think this election shows a significantly diminished trust of the mainstream media with a large segment (perhaps majority) of the population. Their credibility is shot, so it's going to be harder for the dems and their media allies to manufacture fake narratives such as russian collusion and brett kavanaugh is a rapist, etc.Scratchy Bear said:
This was a rarely talked about, but major reason it was important to vote for Trump. I would like to see both retire and be replaced with a couple of 40 year old strict constitutionalists.
...Of course, the left will find out that one of them farted in math class in high school then demand 10 months of hearings, but the end result is all that matters.
I would sure hope so. The selective faux outrage of the left has become predictable and comical.BearFan33 said:I think this election shows a significantly diminished trust of the mainstream media with a large segment (perhaps majority) of the population. Thank God Merrick Garland will only sniff the Supreme Court in his dreams. What a worthless, partisan POS he turned out to be. Bye bye for him on 1/21/2025. Chris Wray too! Hopefully those two can be BFFs and fishing buddies!

You left out Donald Trump age: 78 years, 4 months and 24 days of age. He may not judge them as old.Jack Bauer said:

This may be too late. Biden has to nominate her replacement and then it has to clear Congress. It could be done, but I think the timeline is too narrow.Jack Bauer said:already seen Democrats tweeting about Sotomayor needing to retire before the new Congress.

He may not see it from an age POV, but it definitely needs to be seen from an opportunity point of view. I'm not sure Vance can win in 28. Get things lined up in the next three years. Wait much longer than 27 and risk the democrats playing the same game republicans played with Obama (if the legislative brand flips in 26). The iron is hot now. It could start cooling in 27.57Bear said:You left out Donald Trump age: 78 years, 4 months and 24 days of age. He may not judge them as old.Jack Bauer said:

Just a reminder that when a conservative SCOTUS makes a "landmark" ruling it typically involves cutting back federal overreach, and putting power back in states to work things out democratically. So policy comes to reflect what the people want, not consensus liberal elite views. https://t.co/IYR7EsD5dH

It's also why I didn't include her in my OP. No way she retires until a democratic president now.
Roberts will be 73 in 28, so the 28 election could be another huge SCOTUS single issue vote with Sontomayor and Roberts getting up there in years.

It's too late for Sotomayor. Remember when Scalia died & Obama rushed through with his Garland pick but the GOP controlled the Senate & were able to delay the vote for months? (I think that's one reason Garland was became so evil & radicalized.) The GOP don't control the Senate but with inauguration only 2 months away, they could easily delay confirmation & Trump would be able to nominate a justice who will follow the constitution. Of course, we cannot be sure McConnell will act in the interests of the nation & the people…

When it comes to the Supreme Court and federal judges generally, no one deserves more credit than McConnell. He not only kept Garland off the court...
