Probably will not work, for one big reason: Trump and Musk, as well as a lot of the Democrat names (donors, notables, actual crossovers....), all have a fearsome common enemy - the various incarnations of wokeness and cancel culture = a clear and present danger to liberty from the progressive left and all the institutions it controls - media, academy, bureaucracy, etc......

Progressivism is rooted in the Frankfurt School notion that the fall of capitalism is imminent and that fascism is poised in the background to take over. Therefore, all political incorrectness must be subjected ruthlessly to "repressive tolerance," not actual arrest & prosecution & such, but consistent overt deplatforming to ensure that 1st amendment freedoms are not misused to undermine freedom and liberty. What we've seen in the last decade is that repressive tolerance has moved beyond social deplatforming regimes and metastasized into plain old fashioned tyranny - unequal protection under law (so many examples) and even lawfare (so many examples).

Remember: when Musk announced his offer for Twitter, the federal government announced investigations of not just Musk's offer, but SpaceX as well. Overt pressure for him to back off. Andressen saw similar. Pretty much any one at that who didn't toe the line on wokeness saw some level of pressure....even for the ostensibly most powerful of us. the billionaires. And they're not going to stand willingly by while their lessers in many respects dictate beliefs to them at the point of a government spear.

No, they don't. They fall into two categories one does whatever meets the short term goal or the other take the bribes to get around them.

Look at the water and environmental conditions in the 60's before regulations. Look at the air quality. Those regulations work and a REAL Nation, not some Dictator based or Party based system that just sets the rules of the day, enforce the rules. We are not talking Fracking or drilling Anwer here, we are talking drinking water and air quality. Yeah, there should be Govt enforced standards. Just research the Cuyahoga River fire in 1969, the river fires of the 40's and 50's, the Potamic sewage issues. There is a need based on history and business will go the cheapest route. Are there regs that can be done away, sure. But at the same time there are others that should be added. But, it has to be done on facts not bean-counting cut, cut. cut because all of EPA is thrown in the "woke" bucket.

As for your question, maybe the answer you are looking for is that Nations with clean water and air are all Democratic based and enforce their laws. Name me 1 Company that just invests in clean water without getting a Govt subsidy or avoiding a penalty. Trump and Musk are kings of using Govt tax breaks and subsidies, now they are bad? Let's see what remains and how it benefits Trump. Elon and Vivek

Water is an interesting subject, the cost/benefit there is interesting and what works versus what doesn't for the cost is a big subject. Air quality has been easier to measure. Point being that all of this is more than a 2 year job if there will be any real benefit or avoiding real harm.
