That's only when the other side does it! Another example of their hypocrisy.

Also, any time someone on the Left describes something as "a threat to democracy" they really mean a threat to the power of the Democrat Party, the fascists. That's an entirely different thing. The latter is welcome since the Dems are fascists and the least "democratic" political institution in the country.

It is quite shocking how many of the Democratic positions of today cannot stand up to literally any scrutiny. Simple direct questions cause them to crumble. It was the dems who coined the phrase "trust the science" but on quite a few issues they seem to be completely ignoring the science.

I think this is why Trump won. More moderate democrats who haven't lost their minds simply couldn't back some of the more far left positions and voted republican or abstained altogether.

When the senior leadership of the democratic party ceded power and/or influence to people like AOC and Ilhan Omar inside their own party due to their flash in the pan popularity, they lost control of the narrative and things have slipped further and further left. I honestly don't believe the majority of democrats believe this stuff but there is a very vocal minority both inside their party and in their voter base that is now leading the charge and they don't seem to be showing much progress wresting control back from the lunatic fringe, even after a fairly embarrassing defeat in the last primary cycle.

A Democrat from 1996 wouldn't even know what a Democrat is these days. Some of their positions are utter lunacy.

I do think you're right about the last bit; loads of people don't agree with their "party" but they are afraid to say it and in one party saying you disagree will get you kicked out of your friend group, maybe fired from work, etc.

Probably true. But there still are millions of people willing to vote for the dangerous insanity. Even if you discount a sizable number to continued fraud (very likely in blue states since they have had few real reforms), it's a huge number.
To be honest, the fascists (aka "Democrat Party") is looking more and more like a criminal or terrorist organization these days.

If the Republicans keep pushing against the fringe left issues after Trump leaves office and people on the left don't have to be afraid of "siding with Trump" for going against the dem party there will be a lot more going against the party line. Maybe even to the point that a huge rift could start in the party with the two groups at polar ends of the Dems message.

I wish this were true, but I think the track record is against this line of thinking. They said horrible things about GWB. They said horrible things about McCain who was known for being a centrist. They said horrible things about Romney who is considered a rhino in his own party and is a bland human being. They certainly ramped things up for Trump, but the Dem playbook has always been to demonize your opponent. They'll spend the next two cycles doing the same thing while also citing the candidates Trump ties to provide cover. Once Trump is far in the rearview and no longer good fodder, they'll have moved on to some other person with an R by their name they have deemed the latest Hitlerian figure.

The Leftists have abused the "fascist", "Hitler" & "Nazi" labels so much that it no longer means anything when they say it. I've even heard some Lefty media figures complain about how it's overused. To some extent it is also true when they call us racist (while ignoring blatant and obvious examples from their own side). If everyone is racist then no one is.
