I've largely stopped watching the trash they produce over the past several years. I don't care about the Oscar's either since I generally know little or nothing about the films nominated.

Technically, there have been a few Best Picture winners over the past 30-40 years with a major character meeting this criteria but they tended to not be very good movies: Crash, The Last Emperor, 12 Years a Slave (that was a good film), Slumdog Millionaire (pretty good), etc.
