Hard to hate the guy...but hard to love him

If he showed half of the fire and energy he did versus Trump against Obama, he may have actually won.
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he believes all the media lies hook, line and sinker and that explains his anti-Trump behavior.

The country was just simply going to vote for Obama. He inspired so many. He had God tier politician status. Many think of him as the best President America has had. Romney couldn't compete with that level of fanaticism, he is just a humble, hard working guy, trying to serve people.
Evidently the voters didn't agree.Harrison Bergeron said:
Romney's the kind of man we need as president.

Undoubtedly a good guy. One of the few in the city. He gets a lot of flak from the more zealous of his party, because his tribe is America, not Republicans. Often working across the aisle, always getting things done.
D.C. cannot replace him with anyone of similar character and ethics, but Republicans will be glad to have a better fighter for their tribe replace him. I am sad to see him go.
His tribe is not America. He's a horrible person who sold off American jobs and industries for pennies on the pound. Good riddance.Porteroso said:

I think Mitt graded out decent as conservative on votes, but lost his mind when it comes to Trump. Could it be that Trump taunted him with the SoS job or some personal corruption in Ukraine? Who knows.
That’s the most intelligent thing Mitt Romney has said in the past 17 years of his public life. https://t.co/pufXGAtypW

Or, he may actually have met him and knows him. Saying the guy is a better option than Joe,Kamala or Hillary doesn't make him a good option. I voted for him three times and not once because he is a good candidate but because he is better than the option. He is not trustworthy and every action has to be weighed to see if it is another "Trump Watch" or "Trump Sneaker" grift.
Romney at least tried to do what was right, which seems to have little value in MAGA.

Helping the democrat criminal machine that pushes for mass pardons of their thugs; that lies every word put of their mouth; attempts coups and endless lawfare on anyone that disagrees with them; that throws little old praying ladies in jail; that enourages wicked dudes to join and destroy women's sports; and so on and so on... is 'not trying to do what was right.'
It was just his little pouty grudge. Goodbye Mitt. You didnt make an impact in anything and you wont be missed.

So, anyone "I" or "R" that worked on a bi-partisan legislation "helped the democrat criminal machine that pushes for mass pardons of their thugs; that lies every word put of their mouth; attempts coups and endless lawfare on anyone that disagrees with them; that throws little old praying ladies in jail; that encourages wicked dudes to join and destroy women's sports; and so on and so on..."
Seems like a big jump. So Vance falls in that category? Greene, Gaetz? They all worked and passed bi-partisan support.
Also, did you know that Romney voted more with Trump 75% than MAGA-God Mike Lee 72%. He was not the only one that thought Trump was out of line on Jan 6th.
Yup. We actually agree on this. Romney has fooled a lot of people.Sam Lowry said:His tribe is not America. He's a horrible person who sold off American jobs and industries for pennies on the pound. Good riddance.Porteroso said:

So, how does this end? If you can't work with the other side and the Romney's, Manchin's, McCain's, Lieberman's basically anyone that tries for bi-partisan legislation is "dead to us". How does it end?historian said:
Mitt has worked with & voted with the Dems a lot while in the Senate. He is the worst of the RINO's.

Then it doesn't end because the GOP will lose the House in 2 years. It will be more of the same bi-partisan crap.Redbrickbear said:FLBear5630 said:So, how does this end? Depends on what bi-partisan legislation we are talking about
Betraying the base by reaching across the aisle to push for more foreign wars, and more leftist social stuff
(taking down statues, renaming bases, codifying gay "marriage" into Federal law, confirming Leftist Life Judges)
That is not the kind of bi-partisan stuff that Republican voters want....its a betrayal
Not to mention there is no similar movement among the Democrats to reach across the isle and secure our borders or push socially conservative legislation
Bi-partisanship is a one way street in DC
We are in the majority. We don't need to work with the other side now. They need to work with us. What we don't need is for our side to block our own agenda. You may not like it, but don't side with them and block us. That is our end game. Get on board or get out.FLBear5630 said:So, how does this end? You think Trump will have smooth sailing and destroy the Dems? He won by a percent or two. You guys think it is over and Trump won?
I am not getting the end game here or at least one that is realistic.
