That's the scandal? That St Jude provides free cancer treatment but doesn't provide housing, travel, food and lost wages for the parents of patients? You're an idiot and Pro Publica is the scam.Tempus Edax Rerum said:I'm not surprised you aren't too bright.Harrison Bergeron said:

Our family have unfortunately had a number of serious health issues, and I truly feel awful for anyone going through them and can't ingrained having to worry about finances while going through it.
That said, the feature story in this article is a woman complaining that St. Jude didn't compensate her when she had to quit her job? They covered all of her daughter's medical expenses. They covered the mom's food, lodging, and transportation. This is one of the more bizarre complaints I've ever heard of.

Well considering most of their patients come from TN, I'd say a whole lot of hospitals are doing as much or more than they are.KaiBear said:

Yep, people are starting to wake up to their under handed tactics.BluesBear said:
.82 cents of every donated dollars goes to "help" people. What a joke. I worked for a company in the Midwest who would donate over $100K each year to St. Jude's - - - once my boss understood the mockery of what they do behind the scenes, he shut down the giving.

This is one of the most bizarre threads I have seen on this board, and that is saying something. I am a long time employee of a major corporate partner with St. Jude. Please look at their website or talk to family that has been impacted or an employee. Their goal is "Finding cures. Saving children", not housing patient families or providing supplemental income. Bizzare...

Plenty of research institutions are focused on finding cures for cancer. St. Judes just grifts way more than most.
