Oh how short memories are and times have changed.
Do you plan on using U.S. marines to get the russians out of Crimea?
If not....then its time to start dealing with reality
The Russians are there....they have it....and that is not going to change unless the United States puts its troops into the struggle to dislodge them
What's going to shock you is that U.S. involvement is going to be the only thing that will/could dislodge them from the rest of Ukraine. But we took that off the table during the surrender tour early on. We proved we had no resolve, so why should they stop? We're antagonizing their most important ally in China via the trade war, so we've even cut that leverage angle off. And Russia's pivoted to a wartime economy which helps keep them slightly afloat, along with Chinese and Iranian factories, so what's the pressure points for them to stop? Europe jumping in? Why talk splitting the spoils of Ukraine (rare earth for example) when Russia can take it for itself?
I have no desire to put US boots on the ground, but I certainly wouldn't have taken it off the table until we get something in return. Question is, would Trump escalate? Consider more military aid? He's put himself into a difficult position for future negotiations.
