And then there's also the not insignificant factor of local sympathy to Antifa - state and local governments relentlessly push back on federal operations, from legal action to limit/deny ICE even the facilities to operate. to refusal to assist with riot control, etc...... The entrance to the small jail facility at the ICE office in downtown Portland is boarded up. Looks abandoned. And things are heating up again. Ongoing protests in Washington state might seem like the more timely tactical target, but Portland is the beating heart of the beast.

In a very real sense there is an insurgency in the Pacific Northwest which has effectively captured the citadels of some cities, counties, and in meaningful ways even State governments, who actively protect Antifa to the extent they are able. Trump does not want that to spread any further, and it won't if he cuts out the heart of the movement. To do that, he has to close and grapple with the beast.

The Antifa movement is killing people.
Ignoring it hasn't worked.
It's gotta stop.
First step to do that. is to exercise the supremacy clause = send in National Guard to protect ICE operations.
When Antifa rises to the challenge, which they will, they will be crushed, as they should be.

Biggest issue in a prison is crowd control. Working there is no cakewalk. Guards need all the help they can get to keep issues at bay.

With nein on this. No one drives by the Huntsville prison and thinks, "I'd like to live there one day."
Biggest issue in a prison is crowd control. Working there is no cakewalk. Guards need all the help they can get to keep issues at bay.

Some folks in prison need a .40 cal to the temple. They deserve it and they have earned it. Lots of people in prison made a mistake for which they need punished but should not be treated as subhuman.

There are reams of data that show that approach doesn't even work.

I think you may have a really poor impression of what prisons are like. They are not the Ramada. They are nasty, they are violent and taking away TV and radio is a recipe to make them even more violent.

Mountains of date from the folks that make mountains of cash off the current system, or have some political benefit or similar. Our prisons are luxury hotels in comparison to what they be.

With nein on this. No one drives by the Huntsville prison and thinks, "I'd like to live there one day."
Biggest issue in a prison is crowd control. Working there is no cakewalk. Guards need all the help they can get to keep issues at bay.

Some folks in prison need a .40 cal to the temple. They deserve it and they have earned it. Lots of people in prison made a mistake for which they need punished but should not be treated as subhuman.

There are reams of data that show that approach doesn't even work.

Prisons need to be as awful as possible so no one wants to go to them.

The prisoners all need to work- bring back chain gangs. Except for violent offenders, child offenders and a few select others. They can work in the prison. Every prison should have a farm connected to it. And other jobs that help teach the prisoners real world skills, even if it is just for minimum wage service industry, construction, auto shop, type jobs.

Any prisoner that doesn't have a high school diploma should be required to get a ged.

No extras. Meals should be one step above the nutrient paste in the Star Wars Andor show they had in prison. Cold cut sandwich, fruit, veggies, etc. Basic stuff.
