We took a 5 day family trip to DC this summer...guess we were lucky to make it out alive

We were there a decade ago in a Whole Foods market as police came running in guns drawn. Parts of the public transportation was unrideable. The Metro needs serious attention to its station maintenance. It was really nice and safe in the 80's. Not in the 2010s.
We went in the lower level congressional offices by invitation and over to the nearby office building by the tunnel by invitation. Except for invited visitors like us, Congress is much more sequestered from the public than in the 1980s as well.

The solution here is for both parties to put forward better candidates. No different than democrats being pissed that Trump won. Maybe they should have held primaries instead of hand picking an awful candidate.

For the rest of us; we can either pretend people like him and AOC and Bernie keep happening for no reason or start to address that capitalism isn't working for an ever growing segment of our society, mostly younger people.

They look around and see rich people getting continually richer while they struggle. They ask questions like "how much money is too much"? For most of us we see rich people as aspirational; they don't.

Factually, most of what those young people say is garbage devoid of fact. However, the young people of today shape the policy of tomorrow so it would be wise to try to understand what they are saying if for no other reason than to try to see how we got to that point.

The first paragraph is hard truth.

As for causes, there is a LOT of wealth behind the candidates the Democrat Party keeps putting out.
The Democrat Party voters have not had a real choice in their presidential primaries for at least 3 cycles.
The local elections can count on the concentrated populations of urban areas that are full of the wealthy liberal and poor liberal voters. The poorer the voter, the more susceptible they are to vote buying by promises for "assistance." Even when they get the inevitable urban decline, they become afraid to lose what they have.

How many of the alleged (as usual there's no verification, nor will there be) 7 million protesters were born in another country? Only in that scenario, on a personal experience basis, is the answer >0.

Furthermore, how much money was "provided" in return for their attendance?

Appeals Court Clears Trump to Deploy Oregon National Guard to Portland
Last updated 29 minutes ago
A federal appeals court on Monday overturned a lower court's block, allowing President Donald Trump to federalize 200 Oregon National Guard troops to protect federal property at a Portland ICE facility amid ongoing protests. The Ninth Circuit's 2-1 ruling found Trump likely exercised his authority lawfully under 10 U.S.C. 12406 based on reports of violence against agents. Oregon officials plan to seek en banc review as the lawsuit proceeds, while a separate order blocks out-of-state troops.

At 50 arrests you need to be put on a boat and sent far away. Obviously can't stay out of trouble

Some judges have other priorities besides providing justice.

Yes, and sedition appears to be one of them, possibly the main priority.

Can't see how Trump possibly survives to finish his term.

A suicide bomber perhaps or a drone strike.

Too many people now believe murder is an acceptable option once they have lost at the ballot box.

But you notice no one is blabbing about saving democracy anymore.

This has turn into something more honest……straight up revolution.

All this farce is only delaying the Supreme Court's inevitable, constitutional ruling that the president of the USA has crystal clear authority to deploy whatever is necessary to protect said republic from all enemies, foreign or domestic. You know, like he or she swears to do in the oath of office.
