From the philosophical (what distinguishes Western Civilization from al others is it's foundation of Judeo-Christian values) to the principled (supporting a functioning libeal democracy in a part of the world woefully lacking in such) to the pragmatic (millions of Americans either are dual citizens or count an immediate family member as an Israeli citizens), to the strategic (building a strong proxy ally to act with us or on behalf of us), to the geopolitical (a strong Israel has been central to stability in a region of enormous consequence to our economy. It had an influence, mostly negative, and never achieved the kind of universal acceptance that Christianity did. It also did not have nearly as much influence outside Europe. Now that the election is over, they are going to reopen the government without any concessions.

I have always been against nuking the filibuster because I understand what kind of demons we are up against and the Democrats absolutely don't care about anything other than power.

However, at this point, I think I was wrong because we only have four years with President Donald Trump, maybe it is better to have a plan in place to nuke the filibuster and pass as much common sense legislation as possible to help the American people.

Now, of course this only works if Republicans can sit down and work out a plan in the back room so that they actually vote like Republicans on the floor to pass President Trump's agenda legislatively but if they could do that…then yeah I think I am now in favor of nuking the filibuster.

Before God forbid, we have an entire Congress full of Mamdanis that are gonna do it for us.
