I need help because I want to put the interests of American tax payers over foreign interests?

I just have to remind myself your Boomer insanity only has about another decade left in the tank before the demographic collapse.

You guys did a masterful job of running this country into the ground.

The truest thing that can be said about people blaming Jews for all their problems is that they are NEVER the good guys. They're almost always angry losers seeking to burn everything down to rule over the ashes, a much bigger problem than "the Jews."

15m Jews in the world, roughly half of them American citizens (comprising 2.4% of our population), and you think they are sinister masterminds orchestrating the whole damned planet on behalf of themselves at the expense of everyone else? You seriously think dispossessing Jews of their lands and monies will somehow improve your life...how?

In this particular post, I was blaming Boomers like yourself.

Boomers did a masterful job of running this country into the ground.

Step 1 - Blame all Jews
Step 2 - Blame all persons born between 1946 and 1964.

Anything of substance to add to a discussion? - Christian Gen X.

Step 3 - Watch old, low IQ men cry when you threaten to cut off money to Israel or release the Epstein list

I could not care less about either. Try again. What do you bring to any discussion other than blame all Jews or a generation of people?
Your ideas are intriguing to me, and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

man, you do rise to the hate-bait.

How about explaining, without mentioning race or the word Jew or Christian, how America is better off without a close relationship with Israel. Can you do it?

Can you tell us how we benefit from this close relationship? It feels awfully one-sided at times. I'm not being snarky, I'm open to having a genuine conversation

Some people are anti-Semitic, but a lot of us are simply scratching our heads wondering why this tiny nation in the Middle East has so much influence over American politics and politicians

The list is so long,...how can you not see it? From the philosophical (what distinguishes Western Civilization from al others is it's foundation of Judeo-Christian values) to the principled (supporting a functioning libeal democracy in a part of the world woefully lacking in such) to the pragmatic (millions of Americans either are dual citizens or count an immediate family member as an Israeli citizens), to the strategic (building a strong proxy ally to act with us or on behalf of us), to the geopolitical (a strong Israel has been central to stability in a region of enormous consequence to our economy. That's just for starters.

EX: Our boys and girls, our aircraft, were not doing the hard, dangerous job of flying all over Iran taking out one A2D2 site after another to clear a safe pathway for our B2s to do the job of destroying Iranian nuke sites. An air campaign lasting +10 days. What other country could/would have done that for us?

TELL US HOW WE ARE BETTER OFF IGNORING ISRAEL.

Thanks for responding. I would argue the foundation of western civilization derives itself from the Enlightenment, not Judeo-Christianity. Not to mention, the majority of the Israeli population is secular so the nation itself has little influence on those ideas. And who cares if they're a liberal democracy? (Even that title is heavily debated) There are liberal democracies in Africa that we have zero interest in defending? Less than 1% of Americans are dual citizens of Israel. Israel attacked the USS Liberty, vetoed US arms sales, and sold our tech to China. They are a client state that we subsidize as they actively destabilize the region and repeatedly act against our best interests

That's nonsense. The Enlightenment was in the 17th and 28th century. Western civilization was established long before then. It's impossible for an event to be the cause of something that began centuries earlier.

The Enlightenment tends to be overemphasized in western thought. Yes, it was important but other ideas were just as important or more so. The were influenced by the British and Scottish Enlightenments (Locke, Hume, Smith, etc) while the European continent was influenced more by the French Enlightenment (Voltaire, Rousseau, etc). This is an important distinct and helps to explain the huge differences between the American Revolution and the French Revolution. Ours was relatively brief, moderate, and mostly political. The latter was more radical, secular, violent, disruptive, and dangerous. It's also more of a model for later revolutions which tended to be more radical, violent, etc. (Bolshevik, Nazi, Spanish, etc).

Most of our Founding Fathers were devout Christians seeking to create a godly society. The French revolutionaries were secularists with more utopian ideals. They tried to create a new religion! We had no Reign of Terror. The contrasts are extensive.

Western civilization existed before Christianity also.

Yes, Greco-Roman civilization predated Christ but then Christianity spread throughout the Roman Empire in the first 2-3 centuries after the Resurrection and became the primary defining characteristic of the civilization, more than the pagan roots. The Enlightenment was 1500+ years later and did not redefine the civilization nearly as much. It had an influence, mostly negative, and never achieved the kind of universal acceptance that Christianity did. It also did not have nearly as much influence outside Europe. Even in the US, it's influence is limited primarily to the British and Scottish versions with a decided rejection of the French Enlightenment with it's crazy, radical ideas.

I am obviously referring to the western form of government, aka Liberal Democracy, which was heavily inspired by the Enlightenment and Greco/roman law.

I assumed Whiterock was referring to government, not western civilization itself. What you're referring to is irrelevant to our debate centered around the US/Israel relationship, especially since Israel is a relatively new nation which is largely non religious

No it isn't. I'm talking about Christian influences on Western civilization which has been strong for almost 2,000 years. Arguably, Christian influence is one of the main reasons for the special relationship that the US has with Israel.

Good point but I've never heard that called the Enlightenment. The term refers to a specific intellectual movement in Europe mostly in the 18th century.

I'm aware of the movement in Europe. What gets my attention is that in 21 of the 64 English versions of Scripture on Bible Gateway, some form of the actual word "enlighten" is used, mostly in those considered most faithful to the most reliable and/or earliest manuscripts. Hence my comment.

As I stated above, the word "enlighten" used in translations of the Bible has no connection to the Enlightenment and has a different meaning and context. One is about Christian values based upon the worship and acknowledgment of Christ as king. The other is a secular, philosophical movement often at odds with Christianity. The Founding Fathers were influenced by both, mostly the former and only to a limited extent by the latter.

One of the main reasons? No, lmao. Truman's evangelical upbringing may have played a minor role originally but the ultimate reasoning was Israel was a strategic spot for the US during the Cold War/Middle East

The Christian influence argument doesn't necessarily work anymore. Is it really our calling as Christians to fund another nation's conquest?

Exactly

Israel was a strategic asset in the Cold War in the Middle East. Situated among Arab states that leaned heavily towards toward the Soviet Union.

On the Domestic side the USA two party system had two groups in it that for their own ideological reasons were very pro-Israel

Jews in the Democratic Party and Evangelicals in the Republican Party

Not unexpected results. The left has been spending millions and millions of dollars in the NE. And they are about to start the Soros family project, Turn Texas Blue or something like that

The Soros family, particularly George Soros, has been involved in efforts to support Democratic causes in Texas, such as the creation of the Texas Majority PAC. This group, which is funded by the liberal billionaire and run by former members of Beto O'Rourke's campaign, aims to shift Texas to a more liberal political alignment. While some criticize these efforts, the Soros family's involvement is part of a larger strategy by Democratic and liberal organizations to gain political influence in the state.

If they turn Texas Blue, this nation is done.

Just a recap, Chuck Schumer and the Democrats made a calculated decision to shut down the government and damage the economy, causing millions and millions of Americans pain and suffering so that they could get their voters out to vote yesterday.

Now that the election is over, they are going to reopen the government without any concessions.

I have always been against nuking the filibuster because I understand what kind of demons we are up against and the Democrats absolutely don't care about anything other than power.

However, at this point, I think I was wrong because we only have four years with President Donald Trump, maybe it is better to have a plan in place to nuke the filibuster and pass as much common sense legislation as possible to help the American people.

Now, of course this only works if Republicans can sit down and work out a plan in the back room so that they actually vote like Republicans on the floor to pass President Trump's agenda legislatively but if they could do that…then yeah I think I am now in favor of nuking the filibuster.

Before God forbid, we have an entire Congress full of Mamdanis that are gonna do it for us.

Barbie makes a lot of sense. Republicans are the party of oh that will never happen and the democrats are the party of make it happen and to hell with the consequences.

They were the last ones to change the filibuster rule in 1975. They lowered the threshold from 67 to 60 at that time. How many Democrat Senators were there at the time of the rule change?
