I'm not a computer dude, but to mess with the voting machines, don't they have to be connected to the internet?
I do recognize that the software within the individual machines have to be checked and cleared before each election, at least in my state.

If you look, the problem of election integrity goes back more than a decade. Ironically, Hillary Clinton complained that the 2016 election was rigged, saying in a post-election interview that " There was a widespread understanding that this election [in 2016] was not on the level"

Hillary Clinton Maintains 2016 Election 'Was Not On the Level': 'We Still Don't Know What Really Happened'

In April 2018, Democrats filed suit against the Russian Federation, President Trump, and a number of individuals involved in the 2016 election for Trump and the GOP, claiming they rigged the election in favor of Trump.

That case was dismissed with prejudice, meaning the case had a substantial legal defect. Notably, though, Judge Koetl commented that Russia enjoyed state immunity and that Wikileaks enjoyed press protections.

The case was part of an ongoing debate about election security. In 2017, the New York Times argued for open source voting software,

and a number of private groups argued for scrutiny into how voting machines counted votes.

So, whether Trump truly believed the 2020 election was stolen, or was following up on Clinton's tactics from the prior Presidential election, or some combination, the debate over election confidence has been going on for a long time. Both major parties have argued at times that elections were insecure, as have a number of experts.

The problem goes back much further. Check out 1960, 1876, & 1824 ft or examples of presidential elections with questionable outcomes. 1960 was almost certainly stolen and some conspiracy theories tie that to the JFK assassination.

A dozen Somali gangs with hundreds of members, mainly teenagers, are wreaking havoc in Minnesota, committing public shootings and murders out in the open, according to local officials.

Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher, whose office patrols the metropolitan region surrounding Minneapolis and St. Paul, told the Washington Examiner that as many as 300 Somali youth are engaged in gang activity around the Twin Cities area.

According to Fletcher's office, Somali gangs were responsible for at least 14 homicides in the past two years, as well as over 100 shootings, including gunfights that broke out at massively attended gatherings, such as high school graduation ceremonies and the Minnesota State Fair. Fletcher mentioned that one Minneapolis police officer reported that Somalis account for one-fifth, or 20%, of the city's homicides. While the Minneapolis Police Department does not publish homicide data by race or national origin, making that claim impossible to verify, homicides in the city have been tied to Somali gangs in the past, as far back as the mid-to-late 2000s. For instance, in 2009, seven Minneapolis-area Somali men were killed over a 10-month period, and authorities believed that they were all murdered by fellow Somalis who belong to gangs.

Most recently, the shootings in Minneapolis over the Fourth of July weekend, which included a murder reportedly stemming from an unlicensed Somali hookah lounge that runs out of the back of a warehouse and houses an autism center by day, were all attributable to the Somali gangs.

Fletcher reiterated that he is concerned about helping these at-risk teens entangled in gang life by confronting the community's "danger of denial." Last week, the sheriff warned in a nearly 45-minute public service announcement that community leaders need to recognize the pattern of violence now before the "300 kids running in gang circles" triple to 900 gang-involved juveniles.

"My 40 years of experience in addressing gang violence in our community has taught me that we need a three-pronged approach of prevention, intervention, and enforcement to impact the issue," Fletcher told the Washington Examiner.

Read the actual words, they "can" be hacked. Not, "have been." A lot of things "can" happen.

What gets me is that States like AZ, FL, use paper and human recounts. Paper can't be hacked.

There is NO perfect system. Somebody can always try to do something. We are talking systematic on a scale to change an election. Even a couple of hundred would not stand up to scrutiny, nevermind thousands or tens of thousands. You know the scale we are talking for a Presidential election???

Why are we putting all this effort into a non-problem in most States and the ones that aren't up to standard there are models existing in FL and AZ that work very well and still let people vote.

More restrictive should not be the goal, the goal should be to make it easy for EVERY US Citizen to vote. In FL, we have to submit an ID to register. I don't have to show a DL every time I vote or send in my mail in ballot. I vote by mail and I can go on line and see it has been received and when. FL fixed voting after the 2000 and have had no issues.

I have a bigger concern that Trump, Miller and MarkWayne will either do away with this election or strong arm it more than fraud in the existing system. There has been no proof of fraud at higher levels than normal, which is not enough to cause a problem.

I think it was pretty clear to everyone that Bryson broke the rules yesterday... whether it was intentional or accidental would be the only question... but that does not even matter as far as the rules go. Not sure how Trump is seeing it this way.

Trump won't have any luck getting the R&A to overturn this like he did with FIFA.

Just remember, anything left of DJT (even if that position is actually well to the right of the actual position because Trump is peddling his own version of oligarchical-populism at this point) is radical leftist and also insane propaganda.

I keep getting called out as a radical leftist on theses boards for believing the federal government shouldn't have carte blanche to shoot people who don't stop and provide papers for 4-5 armed men in an unmarked SUV.

Im sorry you cant understand nuance or context yet still feel compelled to respond to most/all of my posts like I my opinion on the current state of the GOP (i.e., a total sad mess due to the rambling and incoherent policy of the DJT admin) has any meaning to the broader policy positions (such as they were). Feel free to try and address anything I have ever said substantively. Bonus points for attempting to use an SAT word, thought you get no points for the complete incorrect application thereof.

DJT said it might have happened, so to Oldbear and those like him, it happened. Not only that, if there wasn't fraud, all the things they want would be so. Ignore they cannot articulate what they want or how it would be implemented.

I have never put the bolded in this forum. I think that ICE is poorly trained, poorly led, has its ranks bolstered by a multitude of unfit and unvetted individuals who have 0 business being in a position to wield any power or influence with the backing of any federal law, and as a whole are acting on ill thought out directives that are the result of a far right-wing populist fever dream rather than the reality in any of the communities in which they are operating.

I have never ever, (and will not, because we still have mostly functioning courts and some free media) said anything about "fascist".

Crazy you should bring it up or imply it is happening unless you (a) want that to be reality or (b) are concerned it is happening are are uncomfortable it is already happening.

That's outrageous and you know it. Indefensible and you want to play word games as if that makes your hatred of federal agents cool.

It's one thing to say maybe ICE needs better training. You could also consider the impact of not having local/county Law Enforcement back up on the work.

But you said they wanted "carte blanche to shoot people"

Oldbear, I am fairly aware of those, although you gave me two that I don't have (thanks). My reference is to what I have personally witnessed as an election judge. The crap about feeding us more misinformation and "stuff" to influence our vote is a fact. What I have a problem with are the allegations that the actual voting machines are being hacked, when they are not connected to the internet. We test them before the day of voting and that morning of and at least six people, equally divided among parties sign as witnesses.
