The only president in history to pay down the debt was Andrew Jackson about 200 years ago. Since we've never had zero debt except during that brief period it's a mostly meaningless statement. Our federal overspending & insane national debt problem is bipartisan and has been growing for decades.
You say the last 3 GOP president did little about the debt. All modern presidents did nothing about it except watch it grow.
Spare yourself.
Clinton got the debt down to 0 or near 0 depending on how you calculate it. You could have googled it but instead you posted ignorance. Not surprised.
Talk about ignorance!!! LOL
At the turn of the century the deficit (annual spending greater than revenues) was eliminated for 2-3 years even with a surplus. Bush 43 decided to give a rebate to all taxpayers with some of the money. I remember getting my check.
The national debt (accumulated deficits over time) remained in the trillions and today is almost $40 trillion.
There is a huge difference between in terminology. If you are going to accuse someone of ignorance you might want to know something about the subject yourself. Instead you act foolish.
