Unfortunately, the Republicans have a huge overconfidence problem regarding the economy. Mainstream America and young people are struggling.

I'm mainstream America and I'm not struggling. What am I doing wrong and how do I fix it?

I am also mainstream America and doing okay but the world does not revolve around me.

Neither does the world owe us anything.

Amen!
Call it a tax, the people are outraged! Call it a tariff, the people get out their checkbooks and wave their American flags!!!

If "mainstream" America means the average American household, I HIGHLY doubt that applies to you. I would assume most of the people on this board are at least upper middle class.

I am hopeful Ted Cruz will be our next Supreme Court Justice.

As a Presidential hopeful, he does not carry the stink of Trump. I think he has a shot.

I don't think he could get over the goal line in the primary. I'm afraid his time might have passed.
I do like the SC justice angle, though.

Ingraham: Michelle Obama tried something with the school lunch program… it was an epic failure. How do you ensure that this doesn't go the way of that?

RFK JR: She used compulsion and told people they couldn't sell big gulps or large volume soda. We're leaving this to individual choice but saying where there is taxpayer money being spent, we're going to spend that money on food that's going to make our kids healthy. What we're saying is as long as you are spending taxpayer money, you have got to spend it on good food

One of the biggest failures of her plan was that the wording of it said a child has to get a vegetable on their plate (unless allergic). This resulted in kids getting something no matter if they wanted it or not and just throwing it away. Meaning wasted food and increased trash.

They eventually took it out but the idea of forcing a kid to take a vegetable or fruit or any other food when they plainly say no is stupid.

Yeah, why would the educational system want to provide education and access to fruits and veggies. The liberal commies.

There is a difference between "providing access" and forcing access.

That is what her plan did. If broccoli was the veggie that day you HAD to have it on your plate. Do you remember when your kids were young and you put something they didn't like on their plate? They don't always respond well.

And at school no one was telling them they had to eat it so it ended up in the trash.

So even if a middle or high school kid said "no thanks I won't eat it" they still had to waste it and put it on the plate.

So yeah it was wasteful…. Just like liberal commie practices. When it should have been "a veggie and fruit will be OFFERED every day.

I dont know about where you went to school but the school lunch always provided a veggie. We got a menu telling what lunch was, you liked it you bought, you didnt you brought. Not getting the big deal, school should only have healthy choices. We are paying for it, teach em how to eat.

Obama promised a peaceful transfer of power.

In truth, Obama was running an operation against President Trump with the goal of overthrowing the legitimately elected president.

Notes from the January 5, 2017 Oval Office meeting show that Obama and Biden ordered Susan Rice, Jim Comey, and Sally Yates to "Do cases + right people."
The "right people" included Peter Strzok, who was briefed on the matter and wrote these notes.

Obama's order started a chain of events culminating in the FBI's investigation of President Trump as a Russian asset and the Mueller witch hunt.

Ok I am not sure how else to say this.

Yes schools have always had veggies and fruit OPTIONS.

Key word being option.

If you wanted it you asked for it. If you didn't want it you kept it off your plate.

Her program FORCED kids to have it on their tray. This resulted in massive WASTE as the kids just threw it out. So yes it was a healthy option as schools have always given as an option. Now they were forced to buy enough broccoli for all 1000 kids, give it to all of them, and most of it ended in the trash. Which filled up the dumpster faster. Which meant the school had to pay for more trash pick ups.

So in the end it raised costs for schools by them having to buy more and have more trash.

Again, it is the difference between FORCED (leading to waste) and having the OPTION.

That is the problem. The waste and forcing it on kids.

FLBear: " I dont know about where you went to school but the school lunch always provided a veggie."

Checked with my daughter to cover more of a time range, but schools have always offered a veggie. The problem is making the thing mandatory.

FLBear: " We got a menu telling what lunch was"

Not the issue.

FLBear: "you liked it you bought, you didnt you brought."

There's the issue. Under Obama's rules, schools cut back what students were allowed to bring. Michelle seemed to think that forcing her menu on kids was a winning plan.

FLBear: " Not getting the big deal, school should only have healthy choices."

And when students don't like the school's choices, they will vote with their exterior choices. As always.

FLBear: "We are paying for it"

That part you got right. Government comes up with all these schemes, and the one thing you can count on, is we will pay for it.

FLBear: "teach em how to eat."

We have millions who don't learn to read or do basic math. How about we focus on that first?

Sorry, not seeing the issue with a healthy lunch by a public school. See more of a problem with soda, ice cream and fried foods. If they want unhealthy pay for it and get it on their time.

The problem, again, is not providing the option of healthy food. The problem is forcing what people eat, especially given how poorly most schools prepare food.

Once again, the meal is the meal. Dont like it, dont buy lunch that day. We didnt buy everyday. We did every Friday because it was pizza and it came with a salad period. Nobody is being forced, bring lunch.

And once again, that is the point. Obama's regime restricted what students were allowed to bring if they didn't want the mystery crap plate. And every student got a veggie even if they just threw it away.

You keep ignoring those parts when they are the problem, mister.

" A study done by Harvard School of Public Health discovered that about 60 percent of vegetables and roughly 40 percent of fresh fruit in schools are thrown away due to no interest.[23] A University of Vermont study found that the amount of food students did not eat but threw away instead increased by 56 percent after the implementation of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act."

"Higher costs and loss of revenue were among the criticism that the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 faced. With the act changing the nutritional requirements of the National School Lunch Program, schools would need to pay more in order to meet them a concern brought up by a professor at the University of Illinois in 2014.[28] Additionally, if more students were to opt out of the program due to a dislike of the new standards, this would result in less meals being sold, thereby leading to a loss of money.[28][29] CBS News and the National Library of Medicine (NLM) bring up similar concerns, where several superintendents and schools stated that their districts had a drop in lunch sales within a year of the act's implementation.[30][31] Some districts lost $30,000, or a 10-12% drop in comparison to the previous year, while others lost $30,000 in the first three months following the new changes"
