Him, his wife and dog. Have to assume carbon monoxide poisoning as they said no foul play.

Probably not. You wouldnt include the dog there. Carbon monoxide is the popular guess so far on news forums.

Doubtful

Police say that do not think it was foul play

Assisted suicide is legal in NM in some cases. I'm not saying that was it, who knows.

He was so good in so many different roles. I had heard he was staying very active riding his bike daily in Santa Fe.

I could see the wife pulling the trigger on all three.

Wouldn't want the dog to be left behind.

Carbon monoxide poisoning. For some reason, it happens all the time in NM. It's a silent killer. Growing up, had a nextdoor neighbor who died of it. Found him in bed, and determined his heater exhaust vent was leaking into the house. Passed away in his sleep.

That's why it's so important to make sure that carbon monoxide alarm is working.

Not sure if true or apocryphal, but I heard he retired after Mooseport because he was so embarrassed.

He definitely was in my top five actors.

Well, now it's saying they were found in different rooms and had been dead for days (or longer). Perhaps they were sleeping in different rooms? Who knows?

Bizarre.

IIRC he was director but didn't make an appearance like he did in most of his other movies.

Quote:

The Santa Fe City Fire Department found no signs of a possible carbon monoxide leak or poisoning, the document said. If there was carbon monoxide at the scene, it could have vented out of the home through the open front door before responders arrived.

New Mexico Gas Company also responded and "as of now, there are no signs or evidence indicating there were any problems associated to the pipes in and around the residence," the document said.

Quote:

The fire department responded to the home and conducted testing but "did not locate signs of a carbon monoxide leak or poisoning," the warrant states.

New Mexico Gas Company, which provides natural gas service at the home, conducted testing on a gas line in and around the residence.

Quote:

Two maintenance workers said they found the front door of the home ajar and the couple dead inside, according to the search warrant. It states that deputies "did not observe any signs of forced entry into the home."

Arakawa's body was found on the floor of a bathroom. A space heater was near her head and a prescription bottle of pills was located on the counter, the warrant says.

The pills from the bottle were "scattered on the counter-top,"

They also stated that her body was in a state of some decay at the time of discovery.

Yea, neighbors had called for a wellness check. She was in a state of decay already.

Gene was 95 years old, not that age is a factor.

Interesting... the timing is odd

Hackman's estate, where he was found dead, is in Santa Fe County, New Mexicothe same location as Jeffrey Epstein's infamous 'Zorro Ranch.'

Article says they hadn't been seen for 2 weeks.

Obviously they were out of the loop with close friends and family.
2 weeks is a long time.

That would explain the wife already starting to decay. Maybe that happened and Gene killed himself and the dog via carbon monoxide.

I did not realize carbon monoxide detectors only have a shelflife of 10 years. At least the one in my house did.

It started beeping. I replaced the battery but it still kept beeping. I finally took it down and took a closer look and noticed it had expired.

99.8% sure that will be the cause - check them often and replace batteries in them every 2 years.

get new ones every 5 or 6 years.
