Indeed. Chicago and NYC are good comparisons. Mamdami: "We found 12 billion dollars between the sheets to pay off our deficit"

Dude has never run a Taco Bell much less a city. And isn't he a failed rapper (lol) who has been basically living off of mommy and daddy's money and never had a real job? And now he has balanced the budget after only a few months in office? Sure. Uh huh.

You knew this was going to happen though. He's a smooth talker to be sure, but if anyone thinks this guy, a socialist, has the wits to turn around a city with the problems of NY in just a few months is one who is deserving of a special price on the Brooklyn Bridge.

This dude is a socialist puppet who, I wouldn't doubt, is being told what to do and what to say at every turn. Thinking this guy who has never held a real job is the savior of NYC, with his agenda, is doing this all on his own? Yeah, sure.

We knew people would run cover for him to make him look good though, and make him appear like he's doing a good job.

Well, ballot is in.
Independent here but have always gone conservative.
And this time around no difference.
All Rs up one side and down the other.
Now, praying to God that He'll give those of us who are trying to make a better difference His blessing on this one. This time around.

I love this guy.

If he's elected and things drastically improve, his rivals will immediately start complaining "No on can eat off the streets yet. He promised!"

I live in a Texas city where it is against municipal code to wash your driveway or sidewalks with water. If you do so without a waiver for "health reasons" (which I assume you can get to wash off the blood if someone is shot on your sidewalk), you will be fined heavily.

Due to water shortage or just flexiing their political clout?

Good question. There's a 3rd possibility: virtue signaling.

It once was simply a condition of the higher drought stages. Now there are restrictions on water usage year-round and certain of those apply regardless of whether we are in any level of drought at all. During the same time, they have tightened restrictions on washing your own cars at home, which is now only permitted on weekends.

This coincides with the wholesale closure of self-service car washes as well as the automated mini car washes attached to convenience stores all over the city. You can drive around town and see shuttered and abandoned self-service car washes everywhere; not to mention the convenience store minis that have been converted to CBD smoke shops. The only places you will find them are in the enclave cities that have been engulfed by their behemoth neighbor. This coincides with a sudden explosion of full-service or large automated car washes everywhere you go. A quarter mile up the main drag outside my neighborhood, there are three such places just opened, each within three city blocks of the other on the same street, and another 6-8 within a one mile drive. It really makes you wonder what they city's motivation is in curtailing water rights and forcing people to use these other facilities. It has to be more than simply the sales tax revenue you would think.

That California stuff seems to creep into everywhere.

A Republican for governor in CA is very slim indeed. Because the Republican Party in CA is a chitty, sorry excuse for an organization. Completely impotent. And KM being a Republican from CA is part of the problem. But he doesn't care. If he did he would try to do something about it. Loser.

https://babylonbee.com/news/californians-give-us-their-top-9-reasons-for-still-voting-democrat

It's Primary Election Day in California, and, as expected, a ton of people are still voting Democrat. The Babylon Bee hit the streets to find out why.
Here are some of the top reasons:

[ol]
  • "Well, my home hasn't burned down yet.": "Yet" would be the key word here.
  • "The crackhead sleeping on the corner gets me a great deal on fentanyl.": And who doesn't love fentanyl?
  • "Republicans will ban gender reassignment surgery for toddlers.": Those monsters.
  • "The only way to defeat Trump's fascism is through high taxes and state control of everything.": They heard it on The View, so you know it's true.
  • "Would probably like to kill someone someday, just in case.": Murder is illegal in other states. Shameful.
  • "Wildfires are like Southern California's version of the Northern Lights.": Why would anyone want to take that away from them?
  • "We can't abandon the high-speed rail project now, or it definitely won't get finished.": If we stay the course, it could be finished by 2190.
  • "It's a lot easier to calculate your finances when gas is $10 a gallon.": Californians love big round numbers.
  • "What the heck is a 'Republican?'": Maybe conservatives need to market their ideas better.
  • [/ol]

Looks like California is going to remain blue for a while yet, but at least the voters have some legit reasons. Which do you most agree with? Let us know in the comments.

It would take a vote of 60 to pass. Hard to do with such even splits in House and Senate And we even had 3-4 Republicans defect on it. Not sure why

Love Adam Carolla's response to this.
He said it sounds like a new Michael Landon-type series. But call it "Touched by a Rule."
The way California liberals just sit around creating all kinds of chit and doing nothing of any consequence over major problems facing the state.
To call them a joke would be to insult the word joke.

This is why it's time to nuke the filibuster. At the very least, get rid of the silent filibuster and make the senators actually talk, Jimmy Stewart style, until they pass out or run out of arguments for their position. It would be fun to watch the fascists explain why they want election fraud or think blacks and women are too stupid to know how to get a photo ID.

Autopilot filibuster needs to go. Makes it too easy to clog the works. The Senate is already built to slow down drastic change. They don't need any obstruction on auto pilot.
