You are correct that we do not know who it is. All sorts of things might be true. Should we make it interesting? If you had to guess, much less lay money, what are some characteristics that you expect the assassin to have?

I don't think he was strictly speaking a "right winger." I think his mind was a garbled mess of internet dissatisfaction, so it also wouldn't be accurate to pin his actions on the "liberals" in general or "the left."

Maybe the Kirk shooter turns out to be a Young Democrat who voted for Kamala and really likes Gavin Newsome in 2028. But I doubt it, and so I would avoid automatically pinning this on a coherent political ideology.

The gunman was seen arriving near the university campus about half an hour before the shooting occurred, officials said at a news conference on Thursday morning. Officials said they were able to later use surveillance footage to track the gunman's movements onto the campus and then through a stairwell to the roof of the building from where the shot was fired.

The overwhelming majority of the left's response is "Stop making us assassinate you".

Some even say it outright. Anyone who qualifies their condemnation with, "I didn't agree with Charlie Kirk's views, he was vile, but you can't kill people," is a snake. That kind of statement isn't real condemnation, it's an excuse, a soft justification for his murder.

The State Department will "undertake appropriate action" against foreigners who praise, rationalize or make light of Charlie Kirk's death on social media, said Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau.
"In light of yesterday's horrific assassination of a leading political figure, I want to underscore that foreigners who glorify violence and hatred are not welcome visitors to our country," he wrote on X. He added that the public should feel free to bring such examples to his attention and that consular officials would be monitoring the comments of his post.

Comedy Central pulled a rerun of a "South Park" episode that poked fun at Charlie Kirk from its linear network rotation Wednesday.
The episode, called "Got A Nut," first aired in August and featured character Eric Cartman as a parody of Kirk speaking to students about his political views, including on abortion.
