In this case, it would not just be a question of whether the speech was "offensive." Under Brandenburg, the question is whether this speech is intended to cause imminent lawless, action, and whether it is likely to produce that outcome. That is a very, very high bar to reach.

The determination of whether an educator's speech reached the level where censure or termination would be appropriate is something that would be determined by the school, and there are several possible lines of reasoning to evaluate.


I can't help wondering who will be making decisions on posts under president AOC or Momdani.

It is the possibility that the standard for 'offensive' will change and conservative teachers would be fired with Secretary of Education Randi Weingarten making decisions.

We need to tred lightly when firing teachers for words


Teacher firings are, and should be, local decisions by principals and school boards. Community pressure should be involved in a healthy district. It means the parents and voters care.

Wow, that guy Piers was arguing with is mentally ill. Whatever idealogy he has

When teachers relish in and celebrate the assasination of a political figure they don't agree with and post it on Facebook, Youtube, Ticktoc etc. they should be fired.

They are teaching kids of all backgrounds and all types of beliefs.

I would not want my child to sit in a classroom so filled with hate for someone that might think different from them and be so open about it.

What if your kid were a conservative in her classroom, they would hate them too.

A good exercise for what the right thing to do is to take scenarios to the extreme to see if a solution or remedy still exists.

Scenario: The entire school board, principal and teachers agree that its ok for teachers to celebrate and approve of Charlie Kirk's murder and voice those opinions to the students.

What's the solution then?

You sure don't. Charlie Kirk believed that Jesus is God incarnate who was executed on a Roman cross and rose from the dead (as He said he would). When it comes down to it, that is your most important disagreement with Charlie Kirk's opinions.

You are so quick to jump you don't read. I disagree with many of Kirk's positions. The theology positions are his interpretations and not mine. Theology is not an either or position, but are both and. But you're so quick to jump but you can't pay attention to another interpretation that might be valid too. Charlie was certainly a man of faith, and I do not doubt his faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Nor do I doubt your faith but you're one of the most ungracious people on the board. I too, am a man of faith, but with different interpretations. You are not one to judge my relationship to God.

Respectfully, anyone who believes Jesus is a long dead mortal doesn't share the same belief in Christ as Christians.So you choose to repeat a lie.
