I hope this kid sues Fox News, Gabe Eichorn, and Joe Lonsdale, the Palantir co-Founder into oblivion!
Gonna be hard to maintain a defamation claim, given the fact that the people reporting this are merely repeating the young man's words.
Probably best for the young man to apologize and say that he is seeking help for his hateful and racist views. That's what any PR firm would tell him.
Saying racist things has consequences in today's society.
If demanding the utter destruction of an 18 year old private citizen on national television because he politely expressed in a private message he wasn't interested in working for you isnt defamation then there is no such thing as defamation and this country has no honor anymore and deserves to be destroyed.
Those hags on Fox News did everything short of saying someone should kill him.
And that thug in the DOJ department should be fired immediately. Government officials shouldn't be attacking private citizens for exercising their right to freedom of association... that is straight up communism
So, he didn't politely say in writing he wasn't interested in working for the company. He said a very hateful and racist thing - he wasn't interested in working for a person merely because of that person's ethnicity. Now, I am sure you absolutely agree with him, but in normal society, there is nothing polite about being a racist.
Your position on defamation is just stupid. Defamation is saying
false things about a person in order to disparage that person's character or paint him in a bad light. In this case, news outlets are reporting the racist statements this guy was dumb enough to put in writing. That's not defamation. That's the truth, and that is an absolute defense to defamation.
Now, I suppose there is an argument that going further and calling him a racist may be defamatory, if a reasonable person could read those comments and reach a different conclusion. But I think most reasonable people understand that saying you won't work for someone merely because of their ethnicity is indeed racist on its face.
I don't disagree with you on the govt. official. The Fox News ladies can discuss whatever they want, though I don't disagree they are making this a bigger deal than it should be. That said, let's reverse the roles here as you did in your prior post. Let's say this was a Jews saying he wouldn't work for a white Christian, and the hags at Fox News were doxxing him and saying mean things about him. We all know you'd be cheering them on.
It all depends on whose ox is being gored.
