Because you're racist.

Oh now, I shouldn't have called him a Limo liberal. That was my bad.

But, then there are about 10 assumption he made about me, if he knew me, he would instantly know was bull*****

This constant separation by races and classes, has got to end one day. When I see folks trying to draw lines between us by these differences, which 47 constantly tries to do, I bristle a bit. Since I know he is not a reconciler, but a divider, I should just ignore him. I'm not there yet. Again, my bad.

You don't know me, dude. You can get to know me, and i'm more than happy to tell you some stories. This country has racism written into its laws. I don't see reconciliation as attainable in my lifetime. I don't even know what I can do to fix it. But I do know there's a problem and I love people enough to hurt for them and speak up for them when they're unable to do so themselves.

Jeez Cheshire I was speaking about 47 not you.

Speaking means nothing, doing matters.

For a man to get on here and say you are privledged admit it you privledged person, going on and on, this will reconcile nobody. Again not talking about you.

Taking up for someone, is actually doing for them, a helping hand. Friendship. Mutual respect. Showing them a better way, instead of just talking about it. Helping them on their path.

All this other stuff I'm seeing is more division. It won't work.

Such as a chant, Take a knee against white supremacy. There are so few white supremicist it's a useless chant. Most folks are just trying to make ends meet and keep their job.

My fault for misreading your original statement. Thought you were talking to me.

From '08 to the end of last year, there were 115 attacks by right wing extremists with over a third of those being "foiled plots." There were 63 cases of Islamist terrorist activity in the same timespan with 76% being stopped before anything happened. White supremacists are the primary force of terrorism in this country, and they're being boosted by the rhetoric of the president and the evil people who support him. Not saying everyone who supports him is evil, but the fact that he's become the hero for white supremacists and far right extremists tells me we'll likely continue to see a rise in those ideologies as long as the status quo remains.

If you provide stats that aren't commonly known, you should be able to provide the source for them as well. Otherwise someone can just say, "I looked, and I can't find them so you must have made them up."

And by the way, since white skin is the only privilege which matters, why don't you go ahead and tell me about how white kids growing up in poverty are privileged while Sasha Obama and Jonathan Butler are not.

White poor kids walk into every restaurant, school, college, marriage, neighborhood, and are puled over by police and they are still white. Guess what ? Blacks are still black and treated differently.

Yes, they're still white, and still impoverished. So what?
Also, though not as poor as the truly impoverished growing up, every dime dad made was accounted for. As an individual, I went to a real restaurant one time growing up. When Chilton made it to state and won in 72-73 the team went to a real restaurant at some point in there, dad took us to the restaurant with the team as we all were celebrating. Half the team was black, and the team was noisy and having a good time, nobody bothered any of us. Treated the guys like anybody else. Matter of fact there was a picture of the owners smiling and shaking hands with the coaches and players. He probably respected what they had accomplished.

Impoverished white folk don't go to real restaurants, shoot I didn't, but that once, we made a trip to the DQ about once a year. All other meals were at the house.

With his snippy, uppy up way of presenting himself, I'm starting to think 47, though not realizing it, probably thought he was poor, but for his time, likely was a silver spoon kid. Sure he will vocipherously deny it, but proof is in the pudding.

Dude is clueless.

Thankfully you are on ignore 47.

The problem with people that have a viewpoint like you, is you like to pigeon hole people. Make everybody monolitic within a race of people. We have seen that in the past, with Nazi's and other groups, when you do that you will eventually look at others as "them", when they are really just "you" with a different cover.

If you have ever worked in the trenches with folks in earnest, you will know there are folks of all races and economic backgrounds that have no priviledge at all. There is no monolithic white priviledge, there is no monolithic black, brown, or native anchor, holding them back. You are way off, as always, but that does not keep you from continuing your errors.

You chose to divide people into groups.

Again, this is a fundamental misunderstanding of white privilege. It has nothing to do with your class or stature. It has to do with the maneuverability and the inherent benefits one may receive in their life. I never asked for white privilege. I never desired it. But I reap it's benefits daily.

You are aware that black folks get followed in stores quite regularly, correct? Every single black person I know has been harassed by security or an employee at a store while shopping. Every single one. You are aware that black folks are pulled over at higher rates that are disproportionate from the population demographics, correct? Every single black person I know can tell you about a time they were unfairly targeted by police or were treated disrespectfully. Every single one. Those are the big things.

Little things add up and have a profound effect on society, too. "Flesh" colors bandaids matched white skin exclusively up until the last 5-10 years. When I stay at a hotel, I know the shampoo and conditioner they give me will suit the texture of my hair. Black folks don't receive the same perk, and when they do get to the store to buy their stuff, it'll probably be in a section of the store for "ethnic products" rather than next to all the other shampoos and conditioners. I am not constantly asked to speak for all white people. When I speak eloquently, i'm not viewed as a "credit to my race." It has nothing to do with the fact that poor white people are poor and work hard. Many people in this thread are choosing not to see the forest from the trees.

It's amazing to me how some folks hear a story and believe it all their lives, to the point that they shut out reality in order to cling to their story.

The moment someone tries to sell you the notion that tens of millions of Americans face the same exact conditions, barriers, and bigotries that that person blames on hundreds of millions of people they never met in places they never went, you can tell for a fact they are a liar, a fool, or both.

Calling them Black Folks is racist. Of course, you wouldn't know that with your white privilege.
What do you think black folks should be called if not black folks?

Thankfully you are on ignore 47.

The problem with people that have a viewpoint like you, is you like to pigeon hole people. Make everybody monolitic within a race of people. We have seen that in the past, with Nazi's and other groups, when you do that you will eventually look at others as "them", when they are really just "you" with a different cover.

You miss the point again. White privilege is skin color
Do you believe the only privilege that counts in this world is white skin? """"No""""

Why is it any less foolish for you to say what the experience is for all blacks when you are not black? """"Because I do my homework and to black intellectual, cultural, and political leaders and believe their experience and wisdom """""""""

Is it OK for blacks to treat other blacks differently than whites?
. Not sure what you 'treat differently.' I would expect them to treat as humans.

Do you believe the only privilege that counts in this world is white skin? """"No""""

Then why did you state, "I could care not less what privileges you lack. The only privilege that counts is white skin."?

In your opinion, in this world do only whites have privileges based upon their skin color?

Why is it any less foolish for you to say what the experience is for all blacks when you are not black? """"Because I do my homework and to black intellectual, cultural, and political leaders and believe their experience and wisdom """""""""

You do your homework? That's it? That qualifies you to speak for all black people? Why are the opinions of the black people you read any more valid than other black people who may state that conditions are very different than over 50 years ago?

Is it OK for blacks to treat other blacks differently than whites? Not sure what you 'treat differently.' I would expect them to treat as humans.

You stated, "Others [sic] whites treat whites differently than blacks."

Do you think blacks treat other blacks differently than whites?
