Saw the thread about Trump but he is out in 3 years and whether people support him or not is besides the point. The real question to consider looks to be should people support Vance in 3 years or go with Newsom? Why pick Newsom over Vance?

I hope it's the choice of Newsom or Rubio, who is a MUCH stronger candidate than Vance.

Vance's support of Cryptocurrency is a deal breaker for me. Eliminates him as a serious candidate.

I sent DeSantis $500 in 2024. Perhaps in 2028 I will send him $5,000. He and Marco Rubio are my current top picks for 2028.
Call it a tax, the people are outraged! Call it a tariff, the people get out their checkbooks and wave their American flags!!!

I'm not sold on Vance but if its between Vance, Desantis, Rubio, and Ted Cruz... I would choose the lesser evil - Vance.

DeSantis, Rubio, and Cruz are all Israel-Firsters and I am done compromising my country for the sake of Israel.

Not a fan of crypto either... but as long as it remains unregulated and government isnt bailing out the fools who lose their money... I can overlook it.

I did appreciate this moment from Vance, his highlight as VP thus far, smacking around that entitled crackhead Zelensky:

Agree

Rubio would have the broader voter appeal.

2nd choice would be DeSantis. However his inept campaign in the Republican presidential primaries is very concerning.

This really isn't a choice.

Vance every day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

Rubio cooperated with McCain and the Gang of Eight to try and enact amnesty. This disqualifies him for elected office because he does not understand the fundamental fact that a nation must have borders.

Vance only appeals to hardcore MAGA types.

Very unlikely to win the general election.

And Vance once labeled himself a "Never Trumper," and said he was "America's Hitler." I suspect both Vance and Rubio's positions have changed quite a bit from a decade ago.

If we are going to start disqualifying candidates for positions they held more than a decade ago, I guess we would also have to disqualify Trump - once a Democrat who was to the left on many of his policy positions.

Yup. Seems like a political chameleon, and isn't very likable.

I think AOC or Newsom would beat Vance handily. Rubio, IMO, is the best chance we have. DeSantis a close second.

I would definitely like an all Florida ticket. DeSantis/Rubio. Though Vance/DeSantis would be ok too.

I like DeSantis as he is America first without the Trump baggage.

I wouldn't mind to see Rubio stay as SoS, he seems born to do that job.

Vance is going to be painted with the Trump brush, for better or worse.

This really isn't a choice.

Vance every day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

Rubio cooperated with McCain and the Gang of Eight to try and enact amnesty. This disqualifies him for elected office because he does not understand the fundamental fact that a nation must have borders.

You made an incredibly important point there.

There's an old political conventional wisdom that runs - you have about 17 years to climb the ladder from your first political office to the office of POTUS. There are a few exceptions, of course, but thae statement is generally true. You spend too long making sausage in the legislature, making statements on policy.....eventually you alienate enough single issue voters to frustrate coalition building. Rubio will be at the 30 year mark. Desantis at the 15yr mark. Vance at the 5yr mark. Advantage: Vance.

Vance also starts with the advantage of being VPOTUS. Statistically, it's the best position to win the nomination (which you must do to win the General Election). You have real-time access to the POTUS donor base, and the ability to generate earned media.

DeSantis will have a harder time in the earned media category, since he will be out of office as the 2028 primary starts to heat up. He does have a little bit of national fundraising exposure, but only during his brief failed POTUS run, in which he significantly (and surprisingly) underperformed. And in that race, he alienated parts (but not most of) the MAGA base.

Rubio would normally be at risk of being in the "has-been" category. a 30-yr career, a failed POTUS run, etc.... In addition, a cabinet portfolio is not terribly strong position from which to launch a campaign. Electeds can run while in lower office; appointeds cannot. All that said, Rubio has been superlative as SecState, to the point that it might have rejuvenated his career. MAGA appears to have embrace him. How strong is that bond? Debateable.

The conventional wisdom of a Vance/Rubio ticket is probably the highest percentage outcome. It's also perhaps a good team. The likely Dem nominee (Newsome) is Clintonesque glib. Vance is spare and precise with his words, not much warmth, just cold steel skewering nonsense. That helps Vance with the base, but maybe not as much in the political middle, who typically doesn't get deep enough to see past the glib and could perceive skewering to look like meanness. But Rubio is, on the right, the most rhetorically gifted orator of our age. He could go toe to toe with Newsome rhetorically, but perhaps that loses the contrast. We won't rally know what the middle will be looking for in 2028 and why worry about that. Just put 'em both on the ticket.

For the record, I'm good with any of the three. Worry a little about DeSantis's electability - putting on thecold fish routine again like he did in 2020.

What were your thoughts on the old hag who accused Trump of raping her? Does that make Trump a scumbag?

If you read the article, the court denied her request for a protective order for stalking. In denying the Motion, the judge noted that while his behavior was described as having an "odd nature" and "obsessive-compulsive," it did not meet the legal threshold for a stalking injunction.

However, Fishback admitted to having a relationship with the 17 year old student, and they even moved into together when she turned 18, and apparently had what appears to be a very volatile and abusive relationship.

Pretty seedy. I don't know any adult men who had relationships with 17 year old high school students, personally. I don't think even Trump has been accused of that.

Yes, Trump is a scumbag when it comes to women. While I don't believe he raped anyone, I don't put it beyond the realm of possibility that Trump did get physical with this woman (and I think she was a willing participant). I mean, here's a guy that bragged about grabbing women's genitals.

I think DeSantis is more electable than Vance, personally, though they suffer from some of the same issues.

I think you identified the problem with Vance. He gets high marks from MAGA, but outside of that, hardly any support. He also lacks Trump's charisma, charm, humor and media savvy. Trump is better across the board in those areas, and still barely squeaked by against one of the worst Democrat candidates of the last half century. Trump was a one off. I doubt we ever see another politician like him.

Just don't see Vance winning the black and Hispanic vote that Trump garnered. Also don't see him winning moderates in any large numbers. He's a good speaker, and his policy positions are solid, but he suffers from unlikability - a killer for a presidential candidate. Trump was many things, but unlikable wasn't one of them.

I think Newsom has many weaknesses, but he's far more charismatic than Vance. I suspect he will wipe the floor with him.

Saw the thread about Trump but he is out in 3 years and whether people support him or not is besides the point. The real question to consider looks to be should people support Vance in 3 years or go with Newsom? Why pick Newsom over Vance?

This really isn't a choice.

Vance every day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

Rubio cooperated with McCain and the Gang of Eight to try and enact amnesty. This disqualifies him for elected office because he does not understand the fundamental fact that a nation must have borders.

Vance only appeals to hardcore MAGA types.

Very unlikely to win the general election.

Yup. Seems like a political chameleon, and isn't very likable.

I think AOC or Newsom would beat Vance handily. Rubio, IMO, is the best chance we have. DeSantis a close second.

AOC and Newsome have no chance of beating Vance, Rubio, DeSantis or Cruz unless they can steal another election with mail in balls like they did in 2020.

Seriously doubt they can do it again.

I think you underestimate the capacity of Americans to behave stupidly. Trump squeaked by Kamala, one of the worst candidates of the last half century. And Trump is the type of candidate whose antics grow tiresome. There is a very real possibility that America will be ready to move on from the Trump admin in the next 3 years and go with someone like Newsom or AOC.

The pendulum always swings. It's how Obama got elected, it's how Trump got elected, and it's how Biden got elected.

Not sure how this works for you guys. Fuentes and what you guys tell us is his formidable and growing legion isn't going to vote for Vance because of his "jeet" wife. Hell, Fuentes agreed that it's better to vote Newsom than Vance.

So I am not sure how this works when Vance doesn't have the support of the Groypers.

Vance would probably need to make someone like James Fishbeck his VP. Fishbeck has been absolutely killing it lately and will destroy Byrone and that no name LT of Florida with the youth vote and independents.

Won't be Fishback. You have to be 35 to run for VP.

Thats a shame I thought he was older.

But it's a testament to how impressive he's been. Extremely articulate, polished, and confident.

A scumbag in his personal life, however.

Why?

The article says they went to court and he won.

I don't defend his comments, but if you read the transcript, you will see that he was saying "And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab 'em by the *****. You can do anything."
He was not bragging about it, he was being ridiculous to make a point.
Also, he made it clear that "they let you do it".... the opposite of non-consensual.
So many people falsely think he was bragging about sexual assault, because that is what the media told them to believe. Very sad that the media still has that level of influence.
