I thought he was going to name names from the files if they weren't released??????

He did.

Thomas Massie names 14 people he says should be investigated over Epstein

No I meant didn't he say he say the files and was going to release the names he saw if the files weren't released?

There were a handful of members of Congress making this claim...... and none of them have said anything more than somebody should be "investigated" when they have claimed to have seen in the documents.

Inspections were obviously ineffective. Enriching apparently never stopped. Inspectors can only go where someone has gone before. They don't get to go to any sites they don't know about. Iran is not a small country. Lots of places to hide stuff. Lots of black market to work with.

Enriching was never supposed to stop. It was strictly controlled in terms of both the level of enrichment and the size of the stockpiles, and there's zero evidence that the controls were ineffective while the agreement was in place.

Yet it obviously continued somewhere in Iran beyond the allowed percentage.

Not while the agreement was in place. When they finally decided to exceed the limit, they announced exactly when, where, and why it would happen.

Iran was just bringing online in 2020 new centrifuges (Ir3), but those were still not advanced enough for 4 to 20% in short time periods, much less 4 to 60%.

Ir1 units would have required years, like I said. There is no way that Iran was not breaking the agreement before the US departed it. They were developing centrifuges for faster enriching, but those would not have reached capacity until sometime in 2021. If they were at 60% in 2021, then they started before 2018.

Probably not. Our economy has always depended heavily on trade. It helps that the US has been the most productive nation in history for 200+ years. We produce things others want to buy. Our selling stuff is not the main reason for current problems. The disruptions of supplies caused by 2 wars is. Markets tend to get antsy when supplies are disrupted.

In a way this is instructive: we are seeing the results of supply disruptions. Price controls would cause more shortages and make the problems we (meaning everyone) are currently experiencing much worse.

Iran brought its IR-6 centrifuges online in 2019. They were fully monitored, and all materials were accounted for.

Quote:

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Ali Akbar Salehi, said last month that Iran had begun installing a chain of 20 IR-6 centrifuges at its underground Natanz enrichment facility. Iranian officials say the IR-6 can enrich 10 times faster than an IR-1.

Iran maintains that it is allowed to install the centrifuges, regardless of the agreement's limit on their use for testing. A senior diplomat who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't officially allowed to comment on the report said the faster centrifuges were not yet being fed with uranium.

[The IAEA] added that Iran had not enriched any uranium above the level allowed by the JCPOA.

"All centrifuges and associated infrastructure in storage have remained under continuous agency monitoring," the IAEA said.

https://apnews.com/article/0209af814f73484f97032945161523bb

Monitoring continued unimpeded until early 2021, when Iran began the high enrichment process.

Quote:

Between 16 January 2016 (JCPOA Implementation Day) and 23 February 2021, the Agency verified and monitored Iran's implementation of its nuclear-related commitments in accordance with the modalities set out in the JCPOA, consistent with the Agency's standard safeguards practices, and in an impartial and objective manner. Since 23 February 2021, however, the Agency's verification and monitoring activities in relation to the JCPOA have been affected as a result of Iran's decision to stop the implementation of its nuclear-related commitments under the JCPOA, including the Additional Protocol.

As previously reported, Iran has been enriching UF6 up to 5% U-235 since 8 July 2019, has been enriching UF6 up to 20% U-235 since 4 January 2021, and has been enriching UF6 up to 60% U-235 since 17 April 2021.

***

The Agency verified that from 16 February 2021 to 3 May 2021: 68.4 kg of UF6 enriched up to 2% U-235 were produced in R&D lines 1, 2, 3 and 5, and 15.6 kg of UF6 enriched up to 5% U-235 were produced in R&D lines 4 and 6. The Agency also verified that from 17 April to 3 May 2021, 100.2 kg of UF6 enriched up to 5% U-235 were fed into cascades installed in R&D lines 4 and 6 and that: 92.2 kg of UF6 enriched up to 2% U-235, 3.5 kg of UF6 enriched up to 20% U-235 and 2.0 kg of UF6 enriched up to 60% U-235 were produced. In addition, Iran has estimated that, from 3 May 2021 to 21 May 2021, approximately: 57.7 kg of UF6 enriched up to 5% U-235 were fed into the cascade installed in R&D line 6 and 9.0 kg of UF6 enriched up to 5% U-235, 2.4 kg of UF6 enriched up to 20% U-235 and 1.6 kg of UF6 enriched up to 60% U-235 were produced.

As of about June 14, Iran had reportedly produced 6.5 kg 60% enriched uranium (hexafluoride mass) or 4.4 kg uranium mass only. There's no mention of anything that supports your claim. No reason the enrichment couldn't have been done as reported and verified by the IAEA. No evidence that Iran started the process before 2018. No evidence that they exceeded any enrichment limits until the US unilaterally withdrew from the agreement.

IAEA report I read had the Ir6 being online in 2021. Ir3 online in 2020. Again for Iran to get to the levels stated in the report, they needed the Ir6 deployed in an area of two football fields large. There was obviously enrichment beyond the agreement before 2021. I sincerely doubt the IAEA would openly admit that they were snookered.

And the type of centrifuge is definitely a major part of the ability to get to 60% enrichment.

Unfortunately the glaring example of how America's place in the world is tanking and we are an embarrassment of leadership or lack thereof. CASE IN POINT that illustrates where Merca is today. The President of Finland called trumps behavior out from the podium in the US/NY. Necessary, but embarrassing. We are getting lectured by Finand and we deserve it.
