Trump is being presented with a binary choice:
cut a deal or escalate the war.

At this point, the reality we are in based on the conditions we have allowed means that either way, Trump will be criticized for cutting a worse deal than Obama's or will be forced further into a war worse than Bush's.

But we have a third option, no deal required: just declare victory and walk away.

Until Israel is restrained, they will drag us back into war just like they did after Operation Midnight Hammer. Unless we reset the conditions on our terms, we will ultimately suffer an endless cycle of conflict at the behest of Israel.

Trump should reject the Obama/Bush binary and handle this his waywalk away, pull our troops out, cut aid to Israel, say he won, & quietly deal with the Iranians moving forward.

This way, Iran loses its incentive to choke the SOH, freeing up oil commerce & avoiding an escalation into a war no one wants and which we can't afford.

Persia is an ancient and formidable geographic realitywe must deal with them as such.

Simple facts:

(1) We can't beat Iran solely with an Air War.

(2) We can't beat a country 6x the size of Iraq with 4x the population with the geography of Afghanistan with our army (which is half the size of the one that invaded Iraq).

That's reality.

Sunday update:

• White House still suggesting an electronic MoU deal to be signed with Iran on Sunday, which leaves nuclear negotiations to further date, only with commitment that Iran not pursue a nuke.
• Trump: new strikes on Beirut's southern suburbs "should not have happened" and given it was on "a special day when we are so close to a Peace Deal with Iran.
• "A draft of the US-Iran memorandum of understanding included diluting highly enriched uranium within Iran & the release of $25b of Iran's frozen assets" (Reuters).
• Iranian statements characteristically cautious: Fars News Agency reported earlier that Iran has not made a final call on a potential MOU with the U.S. Iranian authorities are still reviewing the political, legal, and technical details.

I'm skeptical that anything gets signed today. Hope I am wrong, this conflict needs to end and is a net neutral at best from here on as far as the Inited States is concerned.

I suspect any announcement that the MOU is dead will not come until late Tuesday or Wednesday after SpaceX options go live.
