this is the SpecOp crowd, they believe SEALs can beat Iran. any ground war, like Iraq and Kuwait, will be won with infantry and armor, it is a nightmare we should not be contemplating.

Pretty much confirms what Trump is saying in that there are different factions functioning in Iran

If we assume Iran is not going to agree to reasonable terms, we simply have to get the other Gulf States involved. They seem about there. The US going it alone will not get it done.

The problem is the terrain. It is a mountainous over 50%. The major population and power locations are inland, not on the coast. It is huge, 4 times bigger than Iraq. To put in better perspective, think of a 2.5 times larger Afghanistan. We could not occupy all of Afghanistan or get rid of the Taliban. And they were primitive compared to Iran, who have very good engineering and tech.

There is a reason Iran has stayed in power being the pain in the ass that they are for this long. It is not weak minded Presidents.

Invading Iran is a bad idea...

The Pentagon is now giving defense contractors 21 days to come up with ways to dramatically accelerate weapons production as the Iran war continues to eat through U.S. stockpiles.

Deputy Defense Secretary Steve Feinberg directed industry to propose faster delivery schedules, increased production and investments in new manufacturing capacity.

The scale of the depletion is significant. The Pentagon says the U.S. has expended more than 850 Tomahawks, 1,000 Patriot/THAAD interceptors and 1,300 tactical ballistic missiles in the early stages of the war.

A CSIS estimate cited by the Washington Post puts global Patriot inventories at under 827, down from roughly 2,200 before the war, while THAAD inventories have fallen from 452 to fewer than 278.

The Pentagon has announced framework agreements to expand production, including the recent effort to triple PAC-3 production and quadruple production of key THAAD components. But these agreements still require congressional funding.

Million dollar American made missiles taking out $20,000 Iranian fiberglass drones. So much winning!!!

Call it a tax, the people are outraged! Call it a tariff, the people get out their checkbooks and wave their American flags!!!

Just need to commit to buying more MOABs and bomb the Iranian nuclear facilities every 6 months, then create a coalition to rotate ships to keep the Strait open. Has to be cheaper than what we are doing. Can't win a ground invasion, so just prevent them from building a military or nukes, and protect the oil.

If only there was someplace to record what we have tried here, so we don't have to make such a costly mistake again.

Maybe we, the people, could vote for candidates who will not get us into long term unwinnable wars. Just some ideas I have rattling around.

The kicker here is that Trump advertised himself as one who would not get into this war... and as a added bonus would stop the Russia/Ukraine war.

Invading Iran is a bad idea...

In the history of ideas, invading Iran with ground forces at this point in time would compete for the title of Worst Idea Ever. We have no allies backing that plan. Just getting enough boots on Iranian soil would be a Herculean task. It would take months, even if we had a regional ally willing to let us launch an invasion from their territory. (Look at a map and tell me the easy route just to land and assemble our troops in preparation for this fiasco.) Once in Iran, as you noted, slogging through mountains to get anywhere would be ... uhh ... difficult. The cost to do all of this would be astronomic.

And this at a time, if the reports are accurate, when our Strategic Petroleum Reserves are already at historic lows.

TRUMP said in June 2025 that we "obliterated" Iran's nuclear program, yet we started this hootenanny in February 2026 to do just that. Again. JD Vance said the other day that we've succeeded in that.

So call it a win -- the yugest win in recorded history, if it makes you feel better -- and get out.

Lisa Boothe, in a rare moment of pushback, asks Amb. Mike Huckabee why America's efforts against Iran don't seem to be working.

He insists the Iranian regime "is weaker than it has been in 47 years," but then notes how the range of their ballistic missiles is longer than ever.

"Their missile capacity, unfortunately, has grown."

You can't, the mountains form a bowl. There are no good landing areas to stage. Any inland route would be tough. Look at the Iran/Iraq war, there is a reason it was fought where it was. Airborne and SpecOps can take and hold airports, that is great for in and out but not the heavy armor your going to need.

This is what Iran wants...

Keep bugling things that do not matter. The Straits, for the near future, matter. The rest does not, they never had a navy, air force or nuclear program that were significant.

Obviously your statement here is not truth.

https://www.frstrategie.org/en/publications/notes/irgc-navy-s-long-term-strategy-asymmetrical-warfare-2024

Iranian missiles dominate Iranian air forces and are still operating. They have over the last 5 years struck Israel, Pakistan, and other surrounding countries.

Nuclear program has been an issue for years as they hid their research and development and enrichment.

This doesn't include their support of proxies in multiple areas.

Supporting proxies is a definite deal-breaker. No way can you negotiate with a government that does that.

We are talking the strength of Iranian military power, or did you miss that?

Iran never had significant air or naval power of the kind we're claiming to have destroyed. Dominant missile power and asymmetric naval power, sure, all of which remains.

Read above. You're wrong.

Your link is telling you the same thing I'm telling you. They rely primarily on asymmetrical defense with low-cost, small or medium-sized vessels.

No. They prepared heavily where they could be most effective. You're not reading well.

I don't think you understand what you're reading, but in any case, the destruction of their air and naval forces obviously hasn't had the desired effect.

Your last thought is correct. Your first thought is still wrong. The only reason you can say that is because we didn't wait for an extinction event to get after them. Hubris can enter peace desiring people when they believe the "little" guy with the unexpected weapon can't hurt them.

BREAKING: Trump is backing off his threats of military action against Iran, telling Axios that the U.S. is "low keying it" and "only semi-negotiating" with the regime.

"We are only semi-negotiating with them. We are just watching Iran with its huge inflation and the fact they have no money."

Trump says Iran is in "very bad shape" economically and has no money to pay its troops. He says the U.S. naval blockade has worsened the crisis.

"It will work out. It always works out. It's like a chess game."

It's probably the best move. Clocks are all right twice per day. I mean, look at our stockpiles and debt. You know they are hurting too. Printing money doesn't have the same effect if you are Iran instead of the USA. A welcome change to use economics instead of bombs. I will concede that it is the use of bombs first, that makes economics so effective.

Weirder still that you and so many others here cannot defend anything this administration is doing without resorting to non sequitur what-aboutism.

Democrats generally suck and Fauci is a questionable human that probably did unethical and harmful things related to Covid. That has no impact on, nor does it diminish in any way that we have an incompetent, grifting boob in the Oval Office. I don't expect you to recognize this, since it requires understanding of nuance and the acknowledgment that two or more things can be true at once. Unfortunately, your last too remaking brain cells are locked in the struggle for third place, so you are excused from engaging in anything approaching critical thought.

Edit: lol at you changing the post after realizing I have vey much called out Fauci. Not only are you a moron you are also a chicken*****

Edit 2: now you changed it back. So I'll assume you're just a moron.
