Those rules mean nothing if they cannot define "woman".

We know what a woman ain't.

Though adults have the right to do it, anybody that superficially changes themselves from a man to a "woman" is still not a woman.

Even if they cut off the man parts and replace them with superficial women parts, you cannot change your DNA.

It's just superficial solution.

Yeah, but if you cut that thing off, you've committed to the role.

That's where I land - if a man gets his twig and berries cut off I'll call him a woman.

It still would be untrue. Some facts cannot be changed by any means, especially scientific facts. (Real science, not the junk variety the Left is so fond of). A person's sex (there are only two) is established in every cell of his or her body. It's more than genitalia. Men have Adam's apples, different bone structures, different musculature, etc.

A man competing in women's sports is not only a liar and fraud (as are everyone who allows it), he's a cheater.

While you're literally correct, I am fine pretending that dude is a woman.

Practically, their two different issues. All of these "trans" athletes are not going that far to win a medal. There is a 100% chance 100% of these "trans" athletes will not be pretending to be women in 10 years. The gag is little more that for average male athletes to win something.

I always believed she couldn't compete so she monkied around and found a loophole. Personally, I can't imagine considering myself an athlete and going down in competition. If I'm not good enough, I'm not good enough.

I've always hated men who walk around the gym (locker room) naked. Not cool for men. Must be worse for women to see.

I believe the Algerian boxer (Khalief) is / was intersex. It's were the birth certificate alone as prof allows her to compete as a woman. That's worthy of a discussion.

It's funny that the lunatics pretend that dudes can be women until they actually declare for the draft then stuff gets real. They called them on their b.s. and the nuts will blink because they don't actual believe any of this crap.

No. What's crazy is how you (plural) have decided a struggling league you don't watch or buy tickets/jerseys for is good place to wage this culture war. It's rather selfish.

It's not all on you. The WNBA needs a new commissioner. A strong commissioner avoids these pitfalls. No is an answer. Doesn't even require a why?

Sonny, you realize the anti-science nutjobs launched a culture war and that it was one if its own players who sparked the latest outrage and got the nutjobs all fired up. Ten years ago biology and science were not controversial, but the LWNJs suddenly made science a culture war issue. It's weird how you guys always start culture wars and then are shocked anyone notices and then act like the normies did it.

Even you're (maybe) smart enough to recognize the rich irony of the situation:
1. WNBA player claims that men should not play in women's sports
2. Other WNBA coaches, players, and leaders have a fit
3. Two men declare for the WNBA draft
4. WNBA freaks out and needs to meet and stop them from entering

Surely, you're smart enough to connect the dots and laugh at the idiocy, right? Surely you are self-aware enough to notice the ridiculousness, no?

The problem continues to be the radical left's positions are so extreme they do not believe most of them but all pretend to do so ... so it's funny when they get called out and panic.

If I owned a WNBA team, i would field it with 10 random dudes and win every title until they finally call "uncle" and acknowledge science and reality.

There are zero trans in the WNBA. You don't have a point.

Feel free to declare for WNBA draft. Their rules don't allow men to play. WNBA needs to stay focused on their customers. Guys like you would burn the league down then blame them for it.

You are just piling on. Maybe those guys can try the Big3 or whatever that league is called.

I just saw that there has been one trans player in the WNBA. However it is a biological female who identifies as a trans male - you can't make this stuff up. Layshia Clarendon:

There are zero trans athletes in the WNBA. The same as the NFL and MLB. Go ask them about trans.

The league puts its politics front and center. In fact, it is about the only interesting thing about the league. Prior to the white straight girls joining the league, nobody tuned in for the competition. It was a virtual signal supported only by the alphabet Nazis. Then when people started to want to watch the white girls compete, the league doubled down on its politics.

Now the only amusement is watching a league self destruct - like all leftist ideas. They had the opportunity to promote the basketball product but elected to keep politics as their driving force.

That is why it is perfectly fine for anyone to mock the league. It is politics, not basketball.

More than ever, it's important for companies to know who their customers are. The Internet has a way of being really loud with people who don't buy from you.

Today, people are jumping through hoops over trans but they're not jumping through the turnstile. In many cases, they're not people you can convert to buyers. Still, they'll make demands that alienate your customers.

My point is, you're not a WNBA watcher. And won't be after the outsiders crush the league.

Layshia Clarendon:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Layshia_Clarendon

My question remains. Why are people (non customers) attaching this league?

There are zero trans athletes in the WNBA. The same as the NFL and MLB. Go ask them about trans.

Ask me. I'm a man. I'm over 40.

Are you watching now that the "straight white girls" are playing?

I'm gonna bet you're not.

Which is relevant to my argument how?

More than ever, it's important for companies to know who their customers are. The Internet has a way of being really loud with people who don't buy from you.

Today, people are jumping through hoops over trans but they're not jumping through the turnstile. In many cases, they're not people you can convert to buyers. Still, they'll make demands that alienate your customers.

My point is, you're not a WNBA watcher. And won't be after the outsiders crush the league.

Yes, the WNBA should double down on its historic constituency, which has helped it never make any money ever.

And if an attractive young player who is broadening the fan base among young girls and their families says something so insane and divisive as "men should not be allowed to play girls sports," then it makes great sense for coaches and players and executives across the league to vilify her along with her fans at games and make it clear they don't want them around.

The only reason that WNBA is having such ridiculous problems is that it is a welfare case, has been for its entire existence, and knows it does not need to make a profit because big daddy NBA will keep it afloat.

If this was an entity that financially had to stand on its own 2 feet, they would not be ****ing this up near as badly.

And yes, this is coming from a man who personally will never watch a WNBA game, no matter what. But if you don't think all those little girls and their parents coming to the games have some thoughts and opinions on this, you are smoking crack.

Fair point and good explanation.

But outsiders are not crushing the league - the league is crushing itself with its politics.

People were starting to tune-in to follow Caitlin Clark because of her basketball. The league had the opportunity to shift from a virtue signaling circle jerk to basketball but instead elected to remain focused on politics.

The NBA experienced this same thing in the late 1970s with Larry Bird. Smartly, the NBA embraced him and exploited the rivalry between Bird and Magic because they were great at basketball - not because of race or politics. Before Bird and Magic, the NBA finals were not even on live network television.

The WNBA had the same chance but purposely picked politics.

So if you are looking for a public quote by someone saying "Sophie Cunningham is a villain" you're not going to find it. If there were any trans who were good enough to be in the NBA, NFL, or MLB, they'd be there. Those leagues aren't based on gender. They're based on taking the best players. Those just all happen to be men.

The WNBA is in a different situation. It exists specifically and only by excluding men so that women can play. That's what makes this situation fascinating.

I don't think she's a villain. I think she's a player in the WNBA. As happened with Rodman, I hated him with the Pistons. Loved him with the Bulls.

No one attacked Cunningham. From what I can see, she's wanting all of this frenzy to die down as it's clearly affecting her teammates.

Cunningham is entitled to her opinion. Same as Jaxon Dart. And like Dart, the coach is entitled to hers.

Unlike the NFL, Dart's controversy didn't go all but bag like this thing.

Dijonai tackled Sophie down to the floor. I've seen lots of plays like that over the years (MBB & WBB) but few were that egregious. That would have been a penalty in football, probably leading to ejection.

Layshia Clarendon:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Layshia_Clarendon

My question remains. Why are people (non customers) attaching this league?

There are zero trans athletes in the WNBA. The same as the NFL and MLB. Go ask them about trans.

Ask me. I'm a man. I'm over 40.

You are half right.

Businesses should know who their customers are and not try to alienate them.

But any good business knows who their customers AREN'T and tries to draw them in, not PUSH them away. Right now the WNBA is pushing them all away at a time they could be drawing them in.

Dijonai tackled Sophie down to the floor. I've seen lots of plays like that over the years (MBB & WBB) but few were that egregious. That would have been a penalty in football, probably leading to ejection.

Dijonai's tweet from the locker room was worse: clear racism.

I don't get why such an incredibly privileged person would spout such nonsense.

Her parent played in the NFL. She attended private school the entirety of her schooling.
Her parents were teachers/coaches at the Private Christian HS she attended in San Diego.

She then attended Private school Stanford, then transferred to Private school Baylor.

Her life of absolute privilege exceeds the privilege of 99% of people in this world.
People like her should be forced to live in Marlin/Chilton for a year as an average poor person. Then maybe she would stfu.

She was wrong. The fouls as called and ejection where both correct. As they used to say, that's what happens when you get "out athleted" anyone who's played and been beat. Let it go and live for the next play. It hurt her team.

Minnesota Lynx HC when they played the Indiana Fever.

That's what you call "vilifying" Cunningham?

Might I point out Mr. C was harder on Ritchie than a t shirt.

An anecdotal story: My wife who is a former collegiate athlete, hates basketball with a passion. Last week, completely unsolicited, she made the comment "I hate basketball, but I might actually be interested in watching an Indiana game just for Sophie Cunningham."

So if you are looking for a public quote by someone saying "Sophie Cunningham is a villain" you're not going to find it. However, that does not mean that fans and potential fans are not watching the statements and actions coming out of the hierarchy of the WNBA and forming opinions about the organization based upon them.

I didn't say you think that. I said if you are looking for those exact words publicly stated by WNBA hierarchy, you won't find them.

As to whether, "no one attacked Cunningham", that's probably a bit more subjective and we don't know what has been said behind the scenes.

Online of course there were plenty of commentary attacks, but I don't think you are referring to the average twitter, blue sky, or TikTok poster.

From the WNBA side, the Lynx HC stated that she approached Cunningham before the game (wearing her "Trans Kids Belong" shirt) and spoke with her, but declined to report what she said in their conversation. That's certainly her right to do so.

Riley Gaines reported she was initially told by Lynx staff that her sign supporting Cunningham was not allowed during the game.

https://www.foxnews.com/outkick-sports/riley-gaines-says-target-center-staffer-tried-shut-down-sophie-cunningham-sign

And of course the Storm owner was suspended for her remarks towards fans of Cunningham at the Indiana/Seattle game prior to all of that.

So we don't know what the Lynx HC or anyone else privately said to Cunningham, but some Cunningham fans sure seemed to be getting direct attention from WNBA people.

Meanwhile the WNBA issued the following statement:

"To everyone who loves this game: The WNBPA represents 200+ individual people with different lived experiences, cultures, lifestyles, and opinions. We embrace justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. Those are the values that unite this Union and allow it to protect women's sports while creating transformational change.

Hate, abuse, and demonization of any person or group of people, including transgender people, only fuel fear, division, and harm. We will continue to have hard conversations. But we will not be used as political pawns."

Again, not a direct rebuke of Cunningham. But there are a lot of, shall we say, coded words there regarding the WNBA's support of the trans community after Cunningham's ESPN interview.

So if you don't think any of that adds up to "attacking Cunningham", ok, that's your perspective. But other people who perhaps feel more strongly about this topic than you do are going to disagree and as shown above they aren't pulling it out of thin air.
