It's wrong no matter who does it. I thought it the low moment of Trump's speech (along with his narcissism). But it's also typical politics and, as pointed out, the Left does it all the time.
Economically, it would only make sense if we had a balanced budget and surplus for several years and the foreseeable future. We are nowhere close to that.
