When I was I HS, I said something to a classmate of mine that was exceptionally rude and hateful. Years later, I was hired to be her supervisor. After several years of working together, she brought up what I had said to her. I didn't even remember the comment but, it sounded exactly like something I would have said back then. When she brought this up, I was as close to devastated as I have ever been. I apologized for my stupidity, rudeness and downright hatefulness.

Being insensitive is not the same as being prejudiced. Even if he was as prejudiced as the photo might indicate, who is to say he couldn't change just as I did.
