I don't think so. To not be complicated about it but there would be something on the record filed requesting a reduced sentence if that was the case. Likewise his last sentence would not be controversial among people in the profession including even other DOJ prosecutors.

Don't know, but running a pedo ring with flights is something the govt would not want in the record if reduced sentence for that scumbaggery was exchanged for information on politicians who got "massages". The new case is regarding abusing girls at his Manhattan Mansion. The tropical island case is the one he got an strange light sentence on from Acosta. I'm sure if he has done that, they will play hard ball with him. Such as saying you have a statutory minimum of 10 years your guideline is higher than that and you will do more than 10 if you go to trial. Cooperate and if it leads to enough to prosecute you will get a break but no guarantees at this time as to how much. The bottom line here is they indict when they have a solid case and are ready. That means they already have other people and pretty much know what he knows, what he has to say may just be icing on the cake or enough to make some shakey cases strong. Obviously if the public corruption division has it, there must be some current public officials involved in some way as either Johns or part of the actual trafficking crime.

Charging and sentencing are not up to the FBI, those calls are DOJ's to make. The FBI's job is just investigation. The person most directly responsible for Epstein's lenient deal in 2008 is the current Secretary of Labor and onetime US Attorney, Alex Acosta. If you want to go higher up the food-chain, you get to former Attorney General Michael Mukasey.

Yeah. Not disagreeing that DOJ is responsible for sentencing in those agreements (and IMO Acosta should've never been considered for his current role based on Miami and allowing that scumbag a lenient sentence), but the FBI is consulted and with Dershowitz (himself an alleged Epstein perv) working this case and stating the sentence had approvals at the highest levels, I've no doubt that Mueller was consulted.
