The US will have its lowest day of new cases and lowest new deaths in over a month. Test results are now at 86% negative nationally since inception, with current trends being 92% negative.

For what it's worth, Georgia will report a total of 5 deaths for the weekend. The first steps of economic opening started on April 24 with expanded opening on April 30.

Sat April 25, 2020 (CNN ) Georgia on Friday became one of the first states to experiment with easing its stay-at-home restrictions and concerned mayors from across the state pointed to the rise in coronavirus cases in their cities -- both urban and rural -- as evidence it's too soon to return to some semblance of normal.

So what has happened in Georgia since April 24?

Not in Georgia, but based on what I am seeing even as people return to "normal" they are distancing, wearing masks (a minority) and using the hand sanitizer at checkout, etc.

I hope that is true in most places but I drove across Arkansas and back this weekend through Little Rock and the only people I saw wearing masks were myself and the cashier's at the truck stops (Pilot, Love's etc.). There were a LOT more people out and about than I expected and none - and I mean NONE - wearing masks. This is just an interstate population sample but it was somewhat shocking to see so many people out and none wearing masks.

Sidenote: Chick Fil A staff in Little Rock all had on masks but I figure that's nationwide corporate policy.

EDIT: It is so easy to wear a mask, I don't get the resistance. Even if it is 100% BS and totally useless it is such an easy ask... why not just do it?

Germany's Bild Newspaper Says 'Lockdown Was a Huge Mistake'
Quote:

Europe's best-selling newspaper announced this weekend the lockdown in response to the Chinese coronavirus pandemic was a "huge mistake," citing a number of public intellectuals critical of the country's official response.

Reproducing comments from seven well-known intellectuals, Bild underscores the importance of "warning, doubting, and arguing" in the case of a public crisis that involves the suppression of the fundamental rights of citizens.

Prof. Klaus Pschel, for instance, a respected pathologist and head of the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Hamburg University Hospital, argues that "in the end, COVID-19 is a viral disease like the flu, which in most cases is harmless and is only fatal in exceptional cases.

"It is important to look at the aftermath of the epidemic to see if COVID-19 really was the cause of death," Pschel observes. "Of the approximately 180 deceased with coronavirus that we have now examined, all suffered from severe pre-existing conditions and were not children or adolescents. The COVID-19 infection was the straw that broke the camel's back."

University of Hanover Professor Stefan Homburg, a former adviser to the federal government, agrees official figures in Germany in no way justified the lockdown.

It is over. Time to go back to work. If the new Democratic Party darling in the most decimated state in the country says it is okay to go back to work, then it is time. Looks like the world starts turning again on May 15th. Praise the Lord! Thank you Mayor Cuomo, for ending this **** show.

Doing it every 2-3 days because it gives a little time for them to adjust to backlogged numbers. I was finding the prior days were changing when I did it everyday. But Georgia did have 4 deaths Saturday and 1 on Sunday for 5 total this past weekend. Monday was back up to 38 which could be some catchup reporting, but even that supports a serious downward trend.

Sneak peak at the US. Sunday was just over 20,000 new cases which was the lowest in over a month, followed by an even lower day at ~18,000 yesterday. Early reporting today shows it could be another positive trend day.

I'll put them out tonight.
