The 149th Open Championship, scheduled for July 16-19, was canceled Monday because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The R&A confirmed the decision and said the tournament, which was to be played at Royal St. George's in Sandwich, England, will take place at that location in 2021. Further details were to be released.
"I can assure everyone that we explored every option for playing The Open this year but it is not going to be possible," R&A chief executive Martin Slumbers said.

An announcement on the status of the PGA Championship, U.S. Open, Masters, Ryder Cup and PGA Tour schedule is coming later Monday. The events are expected to be rescheduled, with the Ryder Cup maintaining its late September date -- all based on clearance from medical officials.

That's not "on the other hand". Same stupid hand not to notify those in contact..

The 'other hand', because criminals are the least likely demographic to comply with a legal order, even in the interest of safety.

Hmmm? I thought in Harris County, the county court at law judges and the district judges are the only judges empowered to release prisoners from custody. Isn't the Harris County Judge's authority limited to county administration issues and no longer has criminal or civil judicial authority. Wasn't that the intent of creating county courts at law in larger counties?

You are correct. That is exactly why a federal judge voided the county judge's order of release.

Well give her a break. I mean she has so much experience . She is a rapid learner. Twelve weeks ago she couldn't string a coherent sentence together. Today she is much more polished. We were stunned when she was elected and she can give thanks to Hurricane Harvey for ending Emmets's career.

I don't understand Gov. Abbot's about-face on Texas state parks. From the announcement: "Outdoor recreational opportunities such as hunting, fishing, biking, jogging, walking, hiking, wildlife viewing and the like are essential activities for Texas citizens."

I had understood the parks to have blocked off certain campsites to ensure good distancing, made the reservation process strictly online so as to avoid campers having contact with park staff, etc. And the magic words for these times: essential activity.

Volume is more important than rates in these early stages. Louisiana is growing the fastest and hopefully we'll see a tapering off as the numbers get larger. That's why I'm more concerned with Michigan as they're seeing volume and they have population too. Not like NY/NJ, but Detroit metro has as many people as the entire state of Louisiana.

"Essential" has become a weak joke.

Liquor stores have been deemed essential, but not outpatient medical clinics, for example. I cannot see my oncologist for my cancer evaluations and tweaks to my medicines except by Teledoc, but I can stop by Spec's and pick up all the whiskey I want.

I had understood the parks to have blocked off certain campsites to ensure good distancing, made the reservation process strictly online so as to avoid campers having contact with park staff, etc. And the magic words for these times: essential activity.

Really? My Mom can still see her oncologist, in North Texas. I'm sorry to hear this OB.

That said I can see not wanting to bring a bunch of cancer patients through a waiting room where lots of people - potentially a lot of sick people - have been.

I don't understand Gov. Abbot's about-face on Texas state parks. From the announcement: "Outdoor recreational opportunities such as hunting, fishing, biking, jogging, walking, hiking, wildlife viewing and the like are essential activities for Texas citizens."

I have an appointment next week that was made three months ago. I called today assuming I'd either postpone it or do something like Teledoc. Nope, they want me in there.

Saw a shot of a Home Depot that was open but they had policer tape over the seeds with a sign saying "non-essential". Seeds. They grow food, but I guess that's no longer essential...

If true, the medical profession has vastly overstated the pandemic, the economy was rocked to the core and the socialist agenda was implemented by right wing GOP members. Totally confused at this point.

This doesn't mean I think the virus would have been contained without social distancing, etc., but we really should be prepared in the future to test and those who test negative should be returned to work.

Less than 50% of students are learning online. Commerce needs interaction in person.

I think it's a Houston thing.
That which does not kill me, will try again and get nastier
