120k, and most experts conservatively estimate that actual cases are 11x the number of positive tests. That means 1.32 million Americans have it (or have had it).

At 2,000 deaths, that puts the mortality rate at 0.1% (identical to the flu). If our covid deaths increase by 20x from here, we'll finally catch up to our normal, seasonal flu fatalities. So why are you freaking out, and blaming the president for something?
I see on these boards often either an absolute lack of understanding of the science behind this Virus or a hate for Trump which is understandable or both. Trump was NEVER going to stop the spread of this pandemic, Trump was NEVER going to stop people from dying. The high estimates of 2.2 million to 1.7 million deaths are likely too high, but anything less than 200,000 deaths and social spacing has done as much as humanly possible. The medical people know this, I'm sure Trump knows this, and as expected, the rank and file democrats have militarized this virus as something that could be stopped like an advancing army, and it's Trumps fault it's spreading. This is medical bull****, and the top medical folks know this, I can tell the way Cuomo is acting he knows it.

So far with our much larger population than other large Western Cultures the US has been fortunate with the death rate, much better than some other large Western societies.
China has about 5 times the # of people in the U.S. and we've already exceeded their number of deaths. How come?

'reportedly'? Please explain that to us.

Biden said Obamacare needed to be fixed.
Bloomberg called it a disgrace
It's failed miserably as every Democrat on the debate stage said there are parts of it that needed to be fixed. We all know their gameplay was to go single payer.

that's nothing to do with this, Obama set up a unit to prepare for the next disease outbreak and prevent it from becoming an epidemic or pandemic, Trump disbanded it, now the actual decision to do that, whilst it has evidentially misfired, isn't what i'm calling him out on, its hard to predict these things (though that is why this team was set up in the first place).

I'm calling him out for lying about how noone could have seen this coming and how he inherited a "broken situation" he inherited a team that could have seen this coming earlier than anyone else and planned for how to deal with it, but he disbanded it. He couldn't handle being blamed for that, so decided to lie about it, its what he does, he takes credit for his successes, but whenever he fails or does something he shouldn't, he ALWAYS tries to shift the blame, his rampant narcissism cant handle anything Negative being said about him.

Wow. What a complete and total fraud you are. Obamacare was set up to fail so that the USA (**** you Brit) would have to go to single payer. Not a single member of Congress read the bill prior to voting on it. Not one, despite Obama's campaign promises of posting bills online. Yet, like a prison rape with NO LUBE on Christmas Eve, the Democrats shoved it up America's ass.

What the **** do you know about this law Redcoat?

Again, you keep mentioning Obamacare, *** has that got to do with this point, you xenophobic imbecile?

Just like virtually everything else, my first question for the TDS crowd that would crucify Trump if he personally cured cancer (because of the impact on the oncology industry) is....do you seriously think Hillary would've done a better job?? As far as this particular situation goes, for starters we know good and well she would not have instituted the travel ban from China early on which would've led to who knows how many more cases and how many more deaths to date. And that's just one of many aspects that would've tragically different.

But anyway, you haters keep it up. It's going to be fun to continue to watch your heads explode through at least 2024.
Through at least 2024? Are you wishing Trump to disband the government, renounce the Constitution, and try for a dictatorship? lol. He will lose in the next election, no matter who runs.

Watching your head explode when a very bad candidate, on the brink of the nursing home, clearly with dementia, beats him soundly, will be quite fun.

To answer your post seriously, my problem with him is not really what he has done. He has done a few terrible things, but generally things were going pretty well, and this virus is just not his fault. He did lie about it a bunch of times, but who even listens to him anymore?

My problem is with what he says. He is divisive, which goes against his oath of office. His only uniting moments are basically the state of the union addresses, and please, someone pay that speech writer. It's the only break we get from us v them. Only for Trump, it's never us. He only cares about himself. We're just lucky that our narcissistic President is a businessman, because business booming is in his best interests. His racism, and anti-American rhetoric leads me to believe he's not a good person, and call me old fashioned, but I think whoever is President should be someone kids could look up to. Biden is 10x the man Trump is, and I don't really like him at all. The bar is truly that low.
Auditioning to be a "strategist" on either MSNBC or CNN, maybe??

You are proof that TDS can also lead to insanity. So you really believe Trump is going to lose to a dementia stricken old man who can't string together 2 coherent sentences and should be residing in an assisted living facility or a committed Marxist that respects the old Soviet Union more than he respects his own country? Seriously? Even with all of the low information, stupid voters out there (and there are way too many of them) combined with the confirmed haters like you, trust me - ain't happening. I just hope Don Jr. runs in 2024 so I can have fun watching you guys cry all over again at that point.
You can't seriously be comparing Biden's mental acuity to Trump's. Trump can't speak in complete sentences, has an extremely limited and repetitive vocabulary, is incoherent, has limited comprehension, and reads at a grade school level. I agree Biden is not too sharp, but Biden run's circles around Trump.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to be joking!! Biden struggles to remember where he is half the time and what it is he's even campaigning for! Comparing his current mental acuity to Trump's is like comparing a tee baller to a Major League Baseball player. Biden going up against Trump in debates is going to be worse than the Christians going up against the lions.

If you were actually being serious with that post, that is about as nonsensical and uninformed as anything I've ever read on this board and that is going some.
Biden can understand and discuss issues coherently. Trump can't begin to grasp an issue, much less discuss it coherently - mainly because he doesn't possess the mental acuity, and he has a psychological disorder that prevents him. Trump's deficiencies are made manifest and amplified in his failure to adequately grasp, comprehend, and address this health crisis.

You lost all objectivity in regards to the POTUS over a year ago . That's fine...it's the internet ....one can type whatever they want .

However over the last few months your comments have become increasingly repetitive and toxic .

Calling it as I see it.
" Calling it as I see it " over and over with the same subjective accusations is not evidence, or data.

Hardly the methodology of a legitimate scientist .
I'm not aware of any scientific methodology being undertaken anywhere on this board. It is all opinion. Some based upon subjectivity, and a lot based upon fiction mixed with facts. Very little based upon the evidence of objective reality. Would you agree with my subjective opinion that Pence has been a stabilizing influence on and impulsive Trump?
No
I think you may be right. No one has a stabilizing influence on Trump.

Trump has as many 'stabilizing influences' as you or I do.

I said 'No'....because yours was an obviously slanted question .

Again...not the behavior of a legitimate scientist looking to have an honest conversation.

I've been honest in everything I've posted. Find someone who is willing for an honest conversation without adding ad hominem attacks at the other participants, and I'm on board.

Drove my Home Depot on the way to my locked office this morning, looked like Black Friday at 9:00am this morning. Humans are social beings, all the warnings and shelter in place and cautionary tales are not stopping us from getting out. I drove by the dog park this weekend, it was loaded. This all happening in a shelter in place community. Drove by Krogers, by Tom Thumb, packed. WE are spreading this, not intentionally, but our society is incapable of just staying put, unless by martial law.

Until people stop lauding or blaming a politician about this, nothing will change, they/politicians can't do this. Folks have to shut it down, and they aren't, even when told to. Sure they aren't working, but they are filling the stores that are open. This simply will not stop the spread.

As I have said from the beginning, this virus will advance until 1) it runs through the entire exposed population and those that can get it do get it or 2) It mutates into a much less harmful virus and basically disappears, that's how viruses work, it's how they always work and how it will continue. WE can slow it, we won't stop it.

So far with our much larger population than other large Western Cultures the US has been fortunate with the death rate, much better than some other large Western societies.
I agree with some of what you are saying. However, it took Trump six weeks to reach yesterday's epiphany and comprehend what he was told early. That is six weeks we could have been further down the road to having more ventilators, and PPE's available. The lost six weeks translates into lost lives.
In fairness, he was hardly alone. I think if we're all intellectual honest, this is not black and white. It is easy to do 20/20 hindsight, and of course today we all would have done things differently. He was attacked in January for calling for travel restrictions, and in mid-February NYC officials were telling everyone this was no big deal and get out and about, especially to Chinatown ... this was the NYC version of "hug a Chinese person." Again, it is not about Obama, but Trump has moved much faster than the previous outbreak. I generally think it is very easy to criticize post-mortem; it is much harder to have called for different action prospectively.

(please spare me the personal attacks, just because you agree or disagree with me does not make me this or that).

Yes, this was going to be bad under any circumstance. But it is a fair question to ask what our governments have done to make the situation better or worse. The only thing I can tell that Trump has gotten correct was the China travel ban. Testing and and getting supplies where they are needed seems to be trending towards failure. Getting the country to unite in a common cause and do the things they need to do has also been poor.

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)In a conversation over the weekend that reportedly left the President "shaken," Dr. Anthony Fauci warned Donald Trump that if everyone in the United States dies, it would adversely affect his television ratings.

Although Fauci was quick to add that the everyone-dying scenario was purely hypothetical, he stressed that, from a medical perspective, alive people were more likely than dead ones to watch television.

According to a source familiar with the conversation, the possible impact of covid-19 fatalities on Trump's ratings "totally blindsided" the President, who immediately convened an emergency meeting of the White House Coronavirus Task Force.

I agree with this last message for sure, though there is plenty of credit stealing and blame casting being thrown about from democrats as well. What is the purpose of the daily alternate news conferences to tell us how bad Trump is. It serves no purpose and keeps him cranked up, or the continual "gotcha" news conferences he deals with.

It was really just wishful thinking at first that this could be no big deal. I know we all wanted that, me included, but medically or scientifically it just wasn't a possibility.

Yet, like a prison rape with NO LUBE on Christmas Eve, the Democrats shoved it up America's ass.

No, but you should at least search out the truth before commenting.
i literally posted a tweet from Trump and a video of Trump, is he lying? (i mean, it wouldnt be the first time) did he not disband the department that would have been tasked with spotting and preparing for this epidemic , sure, he didn't fire everyone involved in it, he moved some of them around and gave them different positions, but that doesn't change the facts and he then goes and lies about it and blames Obama..

The man is a Narcissist, he lies consistently to try and protect his image, hes not the only politician to do this, sure, Politicians on all sides are dishonest, but Trump likes to paint himself as a man of the People and fighting against the "Swamp" of DC and the "Fake News" when he is just as bad and probably worse than the people he is going up against.

Me too.

Let's also remember the bad stuff that happens, virus or no virus. One of my employees has to make the decision whether to take her dad off life support. He had a heart attack last week and now no brain activity. Not related to any virus, but a terrible thing for someone to face, having to decide if/when to end life support for a parent.

We all die, sooner or later. Let's make sure it's "later" for all of us.

'That woman' has voters that Trump cannot afford to alienate. Trump barely eeked out a win over Hillary with a 10,704 vote margin, or .23% of the vote. Whitmer, on the other hand, won her race by a full 10 percentage points over the Republican Michigan Attorney General. There is a chance that Whitmer will be on the ticket with Biden. Not too smart on Trump's part.

We're the first country to "record" 100,000 cases. And that's a gross underestimate, since it's hard to even be testing.

We now have more cases than China.

Trump should be apologizing to the American people for his awful leadership.

How come?
Is this a serious question?
THere is nothing serious about this entire thread.

The new talking point seems to be that it was hopeless from the get go.To start with, that is pretty odd given the initial postilion of it was no big deal.

The thing that irks me the most is is absolute compulsion to steal credit and cast blame, retaining his meanness and pettiness along the way. I don't know how many lives that cost, but he continues to fracture us..

FTR, I agree about the responsive messaging from the Democrats.

Disheartening, that even in NYC that crowds still gather. They of all people know better now.

I had to drive thru at the Bank to make our business deposit and saw other disappointing signs........

Restaurants and churches are empty, but grocery stores and hardware stores are packed every day.

If the crowds are getting shifted from one venue to another, distancing just won't work. The drug store and Whole Foods were also packed.

Someone in that crowd above will probably now get the virus.

We don't really need to discuss cognitive dissonance because you are providing a textbook example of it. We can just observe it. If there is anything you like he is, by your definition, not reaponsible for it. You resolve the dissonance by denying any connection between the person and the object.
