The only reason I disagree with you is that the Democrats are too arrogant to nominate Manchin for anything. He has been way too vocal and critical of them. They want to punish him, not reward him.

He is fed up with the anti-energy/ Climate Change garbage and the Culture War crap. I do agree with you that Biden will not be the Democrat nominee. Biden barely remembers the steps necessary to take a dump.

Biden will probably be the nominee because the Dems don't have anyone else. It won't be Manchin because nobody likes him. Even more do for Harris who somehow usually appears more incompetent & incoherent than geriatric Biden. The only one in their side with any traction so far is RFK, Jr & the Left hates him because he thinks for himself.

Fair point, but the GOP controlled House will not vote for some wild-eyed progressive, or even a staunch liberal. They will seek to "moderate" what the Dems want to do, both in terms of general policy matters as well as the broader political landscape..

Manchin is just such an obvious compromise candidate. That is not to say there might not be others. But selecting him as VP would not risk tipping his home state into the blue column. Same could not be said, for example, about Sinema in AZ, or one of the GA senators, or any of the Great Lake state Democrat governors. Those kinds of factors will all come into play..... Biggest argument against Manchin is that it affects the power balance in the Senate, which is why the GOP should play hardball in support of him. A potential deal would look like this: Manchin for VP, to be replaced by a Republican; McConnell resigns to be replaced by a Democrat.) Senate balance is unchanged. GOP will likely win the McConnell Seat back in 2028. So it'd be a win/win on a lot of levels.

But it makes too much sense so it'll never happen. McConnell seems intent on returning to KY in a coffin.

She's just barely above 50% in approval rating in a very blue state and 80% of Michiganders say their economy has stayed the same or worsened.

I just dont see a way where MIchael Obama can win legitimately. What are her qualifications other than being first lady? If she did win then this country would be subjected to a 4th obama term and it would not be a recognizable country after that.
