Honest question: what else do you expect from Drew?

He has subpar facilites on a "football" campus and gets 2nd/3rd tier recruits and a bunch of transfers to go from unranked in preseason to #1 and a Sweet 16. And somehow he still sucks. I can't think if a single coach who gets more from less.

There are "premiere" programs who are currently coachless bc they couldn't win and it would serve us well to appreciate one who does.

An outstanding season, but an unfortunate ending to it. We looked like we didn't belong on the Big Stage tonight, and while I like South Carolina's team as they are now constituted, we did indeed make them look a lot better tonight than I think that they are....

We needed to come out and hit some shots, take a decent lead, and force them to face a little pressure and uncertainty. Instead we missed a lot of open looks at the basket and turned the ball over, letting them go on a run that put us in a hole and enabled them to relax and play to their strengths.

We did not have anyone step up and play well tonight, and that is a sign that the team as a group was ill prepared mentally for what they were facing in this contest. It happens to a lot of teams, but it does not hurt any the less for recognizing that. The NCAA Tournament is usually dominated by guard play, and Baylor has average guards, for the most part. South Carolina has very good guard play at both ends of the floor, and they can create off the dribble, something that we do not do very well.

Our big men needed to pick our guards up tonight, and they were not on their game, either. Motley, in particular, seemed to be much too tentative from the outset, and not nearly as aggressive as we have seen him much of the season. Maston was lost, completely unfocused, and those two scorers simply did not have the games that they absolutely had to have if we were to have a chance against a physical and aggressive defense.

It was a team loss, as so many of our victories have been team wins. Our margin for error, as we know, has not been very great this season, and for our team to do as well as it has done is truly remarkable. I hope that Drew will be able to recruit a higher level of talent, given what he has achieved with a somewhat lesser level, but we may need to go a little deeper into the Tournament in order to do that. It is the classic dilemma of "which comes first, the ____ or the ____ ?"

Regardless, I am a Drew man all the way. In my view, tonight was not on him.....

Plus, he doesn't cheat to get recruits, and Baylor has sub par fan support compared to the schools he's competing with to get talent.

In other words, he's better than we deserve.
