Baylor (8-2) will travel to Manhattan to face Kansas State (7-3) at Bill Snyder Family Stadium on Saturday afternoon with kickoff set for 4:30 p.m. CT.

Quote of the week...

Dave Aranda: “Energy is the big piece there. One thing that we have tried to establish and have not been as successful as I'd like, is that energy is not necessarily something that you catch, it's something that you create. When you catch it can be good, it can also not be good. If you walk into a room, people are at a job and they don't like the job, and all of a sudden you don't like it, and you just kind of catch that feeling. Or if it's a game, and there's not a bunch of people cheering for you, or there's not kind of an electric current kind of praising your name, then all of a sudden, I'm going to be down, right? For you to leave yourself open to either praise or criticism from the outside, I think is limiting. It is it is a fight to get it coming from the inside out. Practice wise, one of the reasons why we don't play a ton of music during practice,  is so that we create that on our own. The awareness of kind of where we've been, what we've done, where we can improve, and what that moment means, is huge in that respect. Being really intentional about the practices and how they add up to a successful Saturday is everything. Really looking forward to addressing that.”

Craig Smoak’s Players to Watch

Kansas State — Defensive End Felix Anudike-Uzomah

He's the definition of a breakout star. As a true freshman in 2020, Anudike-Uzomah recorded one sack and three tackles in five appearances. Fast forward a year, and he's notched 11 sacks through 10 games, the second-best mark in the country. If that's not disruptive enough, the true sophomore also leads the nation with six forced fumbles (four in the last three games) and is top ten overall with 14 tackles for loss. So yeah, the Baylor offense will need to keep an eye on him.

Baylor — Quarterback Gerry Bohanon

Bohanon's evolution continued last week with a 100+ yard rushing performance against Oklahoma. He looked like a different runner, picking up yards with a purpose and physicality. It's something that K-State now must account for, so I'm curious to see how it's incorporated this weekend. Most importantly, Bohanon has to protect the football and stay calm under fire.

Well played game. Especially in the Little Apple. Sharpen impressed me. Didn't miss a beat with him behind center.

Backup QB Shapen EASILY a better thrower than Gerry and it's not even close

Sharpen has good presence in the pocket and zip on the ball. Red Shirt freshman with poise.

Now imagine playing a game like this not once, but twice a week. That is Australian rules football with way less pads.

Seeing Gerry on the sideline, he does not look to be in serious pain. Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I don't think the injury is too serious. I think the coaches were playing it safe.

I guess, but why would you play it safe this late in the season? It's not like Flagler not playing against Stanford. My guess is that there's no way he could have come back tonight.

Play Chapen. I love G Bo, but Chapen is a real QB.

Aranda is getting soft. Didn't even kick the last second FG this week.

(Yes….it's a joke)

You ever tweak a hamstring? They're tricky, some can heal up in a week; some can take several weeks.

I'm just guessing, & hoping. It's nice to know Shapen is capable. But will he be ready for the Pokes in Arlington, assuming we play them there? Will he be ready for a tough bowl game opponent, possibly even Alabama?

We probably won't know until Monday.

yeah, can't tell anything about hamstrings just by seeing GB on the sidelines looking ok. Depending, hamstrings may not hurt much until you run on them.

Yep. And you don't really know until you test them

And it's scary as hell testing them. Because I've had one or two where it feels like someone hit me with a bat in the back of my leg.

I have a question about the critical offsides penalty on the punt. Our player (Hanspard?) was obviously line up over the LOS, but appeared to be lined up with the normal cushion to an outside player. Was the K State player lined up on too far off the ball, thus creating an illegal formation?

Time for Shapen to lead us!! Excited for him! Crazy to see grimes trust our freshman more than bohanon to throw the ball. Gonna have a much better offense now! Let's go!!!!!

Just coming back to the gamethread to shine a spotlight on how much of a jackass you are.

46 posts in a month and a half. Half of them calling Gerry bad.

As I said in another thread, I can't believe someone on our sideline didn't notice and did not do everything they could to get our guy to back off a bit before the ball was snapped. Our bench was less than 5 yards or so away.
