Positives

  • Won the turnover battle 14-8
  • Won the rebounding battle 43-36
  • Built a comfortable first half lead and was able to coast to a double digit victory
  • Six guys score between 9-15 points.  Lots of balance and unselfishness
  • Defensive intensity is good.  Hold Guard-U to less than 1 point per possession (0.91)
  • Good to see Adam Flagler back and productive (13 points)
  • Good to see Matt Mayer making some threes (2-4).  14 points and 4 rebounds
  • Akinjo runs the show.  28 assists to 7 turnovers the last 3 games
  • Jeremy Sochan hits the glass, 9 rebounds
  • Kendall Brown another highly efficient game 187 offensive rating
  • Thamba and Tchatchoua give us pick setting, rebounding, defense and rim protection

Needs Work

  • FT shooting defense (13-16)
  • Killer instinct to put teams away by 20+ when they give you that opportunity
  • Three point defense could be better (37%).  Also need to shoot higher 3 percentage (33%)
  • Offense just needs time to gel.  VCU plays great D (#14 KenPom) so game may be ugly
  • 64% on free throws, need to make the easy ones
