Positives

  • Tremendous grit.  Down 10 at home without two of your key guys (Flagler and Cryer), the Bears reached deep to win against a desperate WVU team.
  • One turnover in the last 15 minutes of the game (Sochan charge).  Four assists from Bonner with no turnovers.
  • Akinjo was terrific the last 18 minutes.  He played like an All-American.
  • 17 offensive rebounds (45% of our misses) and only gave up 5 offensive rebounds (21% of WVU’s misses.  Elite rebounding.
  • Kendall Brown with some terrific steals in the second half; making both free throws and nailing a clutch 3.
  • Sochan stuffs the stat sheet with 13 points; 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 4 turnovers and 6 missed free throws.
  • Matt Mayer 3 minutes of hell.  20 minutes of what the hell are we doing.  But the 3 minutes was spectacular.  We don't win the game without that late game flurry of awesomeness.
  • Outscored WVU 33-20 the last 10 minutes.  That’s a lot of offense against a top 40 defensive team without Flagler and Cryer.

Needs Work

  • Last 10 minute of first halves at home we seem to go through offensive lulls.  At least I remember we did against Texas Tech and also Oklahoma State I think.  Got outscored 18-1 at the end of the first half.
  • Free throw shooting.  Oh boy.  Mayer and Sochan 2-12.
  • Fouling 3 point shooters, I think we did that three times but maybe only twice (Mayer, Bonner)
